Not much better, currently 11th on the ladder but they did just get a huge result against the Bombers (who may not be called the Bombers for much longer but that’s another story)..

They are hanging in there on 8th and could make the final 8 come September.

Western Bulldogs are at home to Freeo on Saturday, 13:45 KO, and I like those apples, can't stand the late kick offs these days as I don't get home until after midnight. $27 to get in, which is less than £14 in your English coinage, and those apples are liked even more..

Is that $27 GA or with membership? Remember looking at going to a Dogs vs. Pies game at Marvel on a Friday night when I was last in Melbourne 5 years ago, and GA being $25 which was really good value since Collingwood I imagine pull in a crowd.

For what it’s worth, a pub in Melbourne were offering free tickets for the Rebels vs. Sunwolves game at AAMI Park that same evening, so went there instead.

Yeah, GA, it’s the way to go for me. I do the same at the G for the cricket, there’s always a decent seat somewhere and the stewards are mainly sound if you sit where you’re not supposed to..

Awesome! No wonder why the AFL draws in such crowds when membership and GA tickets are fair value to fans.

Back on footy, this narrative of the Lions not being able to win away from the Gabba is completely over the top; they tend to win most games at Marvel and beat Melbourne at the G during finals last year. Sure, their forward line is questionable… but they could beat Collingwood or Port.

I think the Lions are the only team capable of stopping the Pies this year, can’t have them feral bogans from Victoria Park winning it again..

Didn't realise there was a thread on the sport.

Started watching it off and on towards tail end of last season. This season have been watching two games a week that record off BT.

    Crazy sport but love it.

That big lad who wears glasses for Collingwood, 6ft 11 he is apparently. Now that is tall.

Glad you like Aussie Rules, what team catches your eye then, seeing you are Welsh I reckon Melbourne, the Demons just might suit you.

Really is one of the craziest sports have seen. The pitches are huge.

Watched one game the other day and Collingwood were something like 80 points ahead at one stage then eased off as the game was won. Gold Coast were the opponents.

Record the games on a Friday and Saturday morning which watch back later on.

Don't have to worry about accidentally finding out the score from someone which is good.

Is it the top 8 that enter a playoff round at the end of regular season ?

Yeah, top eight of the ladder qualify for the playoffs but it's a little different in the knock outs than just a quarter final stage. The top four play each other and the winners get a bye through to Week Three of the tournament to play home Preliminary Finals, while the losers play home Semi-Finals in Week Two. The bottom four teams play the two Elimination Finals, where the winners advance to Week Two away games and the losers' seasons are over. Got it? It took me three years to understand it.

It is now when I was in Australia the teams were based in Victoria and the finals were the first 4 teams, it's changed a hell of a lot when I left in the early 70s and came back to the UK, all the grounds were in walking distance from each other as there were only 12 teams then, the only ground that was hard to get too was Geelong (the Cats), I had to get a train up there to Corio bay.

I lost count of how many times I have been to the MSG and watched my team Carlton and others play there, as I mentioned before I love the game and I am a one-eyed Blues supporter, Carlton.

Yeah, it must have been weird back then. Of those twelve teams that played in the VFL, ten have remained in Melbourne with Fitzroy moving to Brisbane, who are now the Lions, and South Melbourne who moved to Sydney and are now the Swans. Carlton now play their home games at the Marvel stadium in the CBD, which back in your day would have been called Waverley Park. Quite a few teams play their home games there now, including the Doggies, which is perfect for me as I live in the west and it's a twelve minute train ride away..

Doggies are at home to the Collingwood Bogans this Friday. I doubt that I'll go, our fans will be outnumbered by them lot and it's never a great atmosphere against them. TV and wine methinks..

Old Princess Park, the home ground of Carlton when I was there, 2 of my favorite seats I would try and get, I would get there early so that way I could grab the seat and enjoy a reserve match first plus the pie man would walk around the boundary line at h/t selling his Noon or 4 & 20 pies, those were the days, sigh.

The last time I saw Carlton play in a Grand Final and we won the Flag at the MCG was in 1970, that made my day.

Collingwood too strong for us. I think we probably played our best footie of the season in that first half but the Pies have too many guns. Top eighth beckons and then who knows but it’s Collingwood’s to lose this year.

Just watched a cracking game between Bulldogs and Collingwood.

Bulls were 19-0 up after eight minutes played which is nothing in this sport.

Really do like this new sport taken to.
