Yeah, although I'm sure a majority of their fanbase would give him a pass considering what he's been through recently. It'll be the club staff/friends and family/sponsors/people that aren't even Town fans that got them that piss people off.
Yeah, supposedly 200 staff members were given 2 tickets as first priority. Town fans have had to pay £40 membership this year to get 5 priority points and every game after that gives another point. No doubt a lot bought the membership so that they could build points and get to yesterdays match. Explains why they sold out before getting to the category for those below 30 points. A bit of a mess up by the club there but I hope the 400 enjoyed their day out…
Tbh I have a slightly different and mixed view on this. I’ll try to explain why, imo it depends on the staff who work for the Club and their commitment to following their Team. I followed SWFC and was took to occasional games from being very young with my Dad, (Thanks Dad, still miss you!) he continued taking me more regularly as I got older until I was 13 and I got my 1st Season Ticket with my mates (1983) I continued with having a season Ticket every season until (I think) the 2008/9 Season, when due to financial reasons, I could no longer afford one, so I started working on the Turnstiles. Whilst doing this I/we could purchase (had to pay) away tickets, we had to fill in a form requesting which matches we’d like tickets for, about a month in advance (prior to them going on sale). Of the 80 or so that worked the TS about 20 of us regularly went to away matches, some every Match, others like me about half the away Matches. This worked fine, until we played locally or had a Big Match, when suddenly nearly everyone wanted a ticket, the “regulars” usually got them, whilst some of the others didn’t. Suddenly after COVID, the club stopped giving TS Workers any chance of away tickets. I was then left with not enough priority points to get away tickets, as because I’ve worked the Home Matches, I haven’t got any pts for any of those games (missing out, straight away on 460 Pts + any home Cup matches at 10 pts each) I’m sure there’s a way SWFC could find a way to give points to TS for every match that they work, but they weren’t interested in this, it was just No away tickets, that’s it, simple as that. Now, I could be biased or simply wrong here, but surely the TS Staff are as important (if not more so) as ST Holders If we don’t turn up Nobody gets in, ST holders or not. Even if every TS operator wanted to go to every match that’d be 80 Tickets out however many Thousand, not too much to ask surely? Anyway, I’m along with about 30 or so others, back to being a ST Holder now. There’s often huge queue’s to get in because not all the TS are open, Funny that!! It’s about looking after everyone, Managers, Players, ground staff, Ticket office Workers, TS Workers, Tea Lady, Season Ticket Holders, Regular Matchday attenders, Big Game Only Attenders, everyone but prioritise who and which order. Unfortunately, our Chairman, doesn’t seem to care about any of them. He is just interested in getting as much as possible, for as little input as possible, whilst fleecing fans (or paying Customers) at every opportunity. Sad state of affair at my Club, both on the Pitch and more importantly off it. Btw, well done to anyone who read all that, it was like War and Peace, sorry, I guess I needed to rant!! On a separate note, we’ve been allocated 7k for Blackburn, if we’ve still got a genuine chance of staying up they’ll all go. If not 3 or 4k, looking forward to this one, even if it’s Sunday 12.30.
That’s all fair enough, but the problem isn’t season ticket holders. Even if you’re a season ticket holder, you had to pay £40 for priority (having a ST didn’t give any priority points for away games). Yesterday was the biggest away game for the club in a season, and the club have given workers first priority PLUS one. Even with my membership, I couldn’t have a plus one.
Don’t think anyone minds Kieron having the odd ticket, surely they could have sorted him out anyway. Lots of people really annoyed about the scale of this however and you can understand why. Do it for another game perhaps but not that one.
Some of them probably deserve tickets, (as I said above) but doing it wholesale and especially 2 per Person (I’ve only just seen that) Is Wrong. I hope they weren’t all complimentary.
Tickets for our game to leeds go on sale tomorrow, and they've absolutely taken the piss. £47 for adults, £32 for over 65 and £22 for nippers. For a game in the second division of english football that is disgusting. And to add to that they've only given us the minimum allocation they need to give. All of this despite them getting 3k from us and at £30. Really, really disappointed in Leeds for this, during a cost of living crisis and with train prices through the roof it's a f*cking joke of a price.
It is shit, it's the same price as what the home fans pay down the sides (think it's £42 behind the goal). We've had away teams pay down to £20 where they've agreed reciprocal deals, but if one can't be reached then we have to charge away fans same as home. Should just be fixed away ticket prices, like the in the prem.
Yeah i saw the prices for home fans at Elland Road, absolute piss take what they're charging you. Think my season ticket works out at just under £25 per game which is reasonable. Honestly don't believe anyone should have to pay over £30 for a ticket in this country, and arguably even less in the premier league as tv money counts for so much more. If i hadn't already bought my train tickets i'd be sacking this off on principle, but i don't want write off £90 worth of travel (though it's tempted to just go up and stay on the piss in leeds for the day but not go to the game)
Same for us, £47. Apparently we offered Leeds the same price as they'd agreed with PNE as a recipricol deal and they said no to that as they wanted it lower again so their fans ended up paying the original £30 when they came. Easy to report it as being our fault for not agreeing but Leeds refused an already lower offer as they wanted it on their terms only. Whatever we made on that bit extra is likely partly being used by our club to sub the price down to £35 from £47 for fans. Whatever the rights and wrongs and there will be plenty of arguments, fans on both sides suffer ultimately which is a shame.
They wanted us to agree to £15 tickets, that would've meant that Saints would've lost ~£49k on a single game. This came at a time when the club were making redundancies and had just posted a £92m loss. We also pretty much blanket charge our away tickets at £30.
Sky can still suck my balls, but this is good. Sky Bet Providing Free Coach Travel For Southampton Away
Initial Batch of 4k sold out for Blackburn in less than 3 Days, other 3k on the way. I think we will sell the whole 7k, shame it’s 12.30 Sunday on Sky, I’ll have had a few Beers, but would have made a proper day of it on Saturday 3pm. EDIT - only 600 left now of the second batch, might not even make General Season. Sunderland on the Final day only giving us 2k. Thought we’d have at least 3k for that, but away allocation has been cut this season.
Sold out now? Think we have played right into your hands giving you 7k for a huge 6 pointer! It being on Sky not great. Hope we can get a good turnout our side as the team need it badly!
Yes, sold out just after 2pm and cheekily requested more tickets. I’m assuming they’ve seen that Newcastle and/or Leeds had 7.5k so have requested extra. We could have sold over 10k for this, so unless you have to be registered on your Database, a small proportion of those who missed out will try to get tickets in the Home Ends. Hopefully if they get them, they stay quiet and behave themselves. Huge game for both sides, I think whoever Wins is likely to stay up, losers will be in Deep trouble though. As you say I’m amazed you’ve given us so many tickets for such an important Match. I’d have given us the least amount possible, in your shoes. Guessing the owners just want the extra cash a Large away following will generate. Very short term Thinking imo.
I hear you, we've had cash flow issues so it's weighing up They've put home tickets on database history today so sounds like there were fans wanting to sneak in. Yeah, massive game, think the winners stay up tbh. The 7k tickets is all about the cash but that means very little if we end up in League 1. It's no secret that we've had cash flow issues.
was at Ipswich at the weekend good game both teams went for it in the end both had big chances to win the game unfortunately i was in a middle of a Gout attack my first ever and spent the day teatotal planning on going to cardiff as well week on saturday our last one of the season.
Only been given 2700 for our last match vs Coventry. £37 a ticket, ouch. I appreciate that’s what we charge but we charge the home fans that as well.
