Counterpart It revolves around the character Howard Silk played brilliantly by J K Simmons working in counter espionage and in stark contrast his doppelganger in an alternative reality plying his trade as a highly trained and highly skilled spy whose mission is to save the world from a deadly pandemic. This innovative and intelligent show after 'a quite brilliant' second series was cancelled and the reason proffered was it was too male-centric thus failing to make it into the hearts of a female audience ? There are other series I could mention ,but this due to its quality and depth of imagination galls me the most for the inane reason it was culled.
Firefly (Though we at least got a closer with Serenity) Pushing Daisies (They were forced to rush the ending in the second season) Wonderfalls
Eli Stone was really finding cult status when it was killed off and The Lone Gunmen a great spin off from the excellent X Files really sticks in the craw.
Atlantic Boardwalk. They dropped the ball a bit with Season 4, so just rushed the last season, which was awful.
Happy Endings They took a typical sitcom format and completely turned it upside-down. Great chemistry between the cast, great writing, got weirder and more ridiculous as it went (in a good way). Fell victim to ABC deciding to go heavier up on drama shows vs. comedy. Freaks and Geeks is probably one of he more common answers, for good reason as well. The teen show Popular was another favorite of mine growing up that just got dropped.
daredevil. though, i recently read a rumor that it's being renewed on disney plus. i also enjoyed carnivale.
Pushing Daises is a great call, might give that a revisit if it’s available. That Anna Friel though..
It wasn’t the most sophisticated show ever but My Name Is Earl getting cancelled on a cliffhanger was gutting
@Marty_LFC Happy Endings is a good shout. Seemed like just another sitcom but was actually fun. And had a gay character who wasn't a cliche. Plus, you don't need another excuse to watch Elisha Cuthbert.
