You've missed the Brighton game out there where Phil played the 90 too. With Spartak I also think Moreno's injury caused a change of plans, apart from that he took off our remaining fit 1st choice CB after 60 (far earlier than usual) and we know Lovren's being playing with injections in the recent past. Firmino was also hooked & he's the one who's probably got the greatest workload. Also it's emerged Salah was taken off v Everton because of a precaution over his hamstring. We're now at the stage where we can afford to rotate even in the bigger games for ourselves & not lose (tbf only draw the two you mentioned because of a fluke & a stupid decision whoever you pin the blame on for the penalty ). The planning for forthcoming fixtures is huge too, January ****ed us last season so hopefully this keeps us in good stead for the festive period with the fab 4/5 all better rested than our rivals... We're ahead of Arsenal & Spurs doing this & we're not far off Chelsea who are getting run into the ground. I don't think there needs to be a huge inquest into it.
He said he rested Coutinho and Firmino based on a suggestion of his medical staff, didnt he? Im not at all mad about the rotation, points are points and if this was any other midtable team we wouldnt be nearly as upset. I get its a rivalry but the season is 38 games long. Draws wont get us to the top but they are better than losses and Im perfectly fine with teams celebrating getting a 1-1 against us. We are in a good spot.
Great result, through to the quarters without a shadow of doubt, great for Mane to get a much needed confidence boost too.
Disgusted at myself for missing this tonight, but it couldn't be helped as I was out of town and had no radio reception on the drive back. Saw some of the goals, but will need to look out the highlights as this does look one hell of a performance.
Still too strong for 5-0 up vs an injury ravaged side but not as bad as I feared... at least Salah, VvD, Robertson & Trent get a rest. Hopefully Ings gets on the pitch early for Firmino.
Yeah, some dickheads amongst them. Sat by them it didn't seem to be many but I know they have the mics near the away fans up so probably picked up on them well. Did what we needed to do, professional performance. Bring on anyone.
Only really fear Munich out the rest, but no matter who we get, even if they win, they'll know they are in for one hell of a tie. No one will fancy drawing us that's for sure, and its a long time since we've been saying that!
