Our last 3 seasons at fortress Cardiff City Stadium: Played: 69 Won: 21 Drew: 17 Lost: 31 That's pretty hopeless for a side that's remained in the division.
Absolutely. Preston are top and according to this they appear to be doing nothing really slowly. Perhaps we’re getting this football business all wrong.
Weird graph. I presume fast and direct means they get the ball forward as soon as possible, with minimal touches? We're direct in the sense in that we only really play football in the final third, but I wouldn't call us a traditional long ball team. Most of our attacks come from wide areas. Our tactics have been excellent this season, fair play to Lowe and Marsh, he's being really adaptable, something he looked incapable of last season.
It's a common misconception that direct means long ball. You can play passing football and still be direct - and in my opinion that's the best type of football to watch
I’m really happy with where we are on that graph and our statistics more generally. We’re halfway up the possession stats table so we can still keep the ball a fair bit but the speed and efficiency of our counter attacks has improved massively. Our wins so have all been very different.
We've had the joint best start of any side in Championship history, which I presume means a 19yr period, and not the second flight in general. Birmingham (h), Rotherham (a), and West Brom (h) coming up next. Potential to put a very good run together, but tomorrow will be tough. Leicester and Ipswich away after that.
Southampton have had more fans forums this season than clean sheets. Southampton have joint worst goals against tally in the league alongside Norwich and QPR, despite being 5th.
If we're playing that game, Sheffield Wednesday have had more Chairman statements than points this season. We've also had our (and the Championships) worst start ever, less than 9 Months after our longest unbeaten run ever.
Leicester will be the first visitors to the Matrade Loftus Road stadium this week. We sold our naming rights to a company that our owner, owns. Hopefully we can afford to sack Ainsowrth now! No issues with renaming our ground, it will always be Loftus Road to me and we gave the naming rights away to charity a couple of years back anyway. No idea how much it will bring in though, not sure how much other clubs make for ground name sponsorship?
7 of Southampton's first 14 matches have been the main Sky match. 8, if you include the red button. Don't get that many Saturday 3pms here anymore.
It's coming up to three years since we last had a red card in the league -- Murray Wallace, two yellows at home to Coventry. Also nearly four years since our last straight red in any competetion. Very weird.
