The only actual point he can have is that he has 6 centre halfs (including Shaw) at the club and 5 are out injured, some extremely long term. Nevertheless it's the way the cookie crumbles, no point whining about it. :shrug

Yeah, the other day was only the 3rd time we'd fielded our strongest first choice defence. Arsenal seem to have been extremely lucky on the injuries front.

That's hardly surprising as he'd only been manager about 5 - 6 months. (If it's the game I'm thinking of).

Yeah but if he is saying he prefers that team over any side he's put out this season then that is quite frankly ridiculous.

I suspect ten Hag's memory is playing tricks on him.

After the press conference finished, the chatter among journalists was about Ten Hag's claim he'd only been able to pick his strongest team once in 18 months.

The Dutchman referenced United's win over City at the start of 2023 but appeared to have forgotten his strongest squad was available in recent wins over Wolves and West Ham.

Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Casemiro, who have all struggled with injuries this season, featured in those two games and United claimed six points.

Also, it didn't make sense to reference last season's win against City because Tyrell Malacia started that game and Diogo Dalot was absent from the squad.

Ten Hag has changed his tune on United's injury record - it tells us one thing

We've had most of our defence injured on a regular basis for about 15 years now, so you would thi k at this point we would have come up with a solution.

Ten Hag has a valid point with injuries, in relation to the problems at centre back and left back, but we should have been capable of seeing out a three nil lead against a team who are currently 8th in the championship. Also, the problems were there even with Shaw and a couple of extra centre backs available.

He is out of his depth and, yet again it seems we need new manager and a clear out the first team squad. Groundhog Day.....

It's absolutely nothing to do with the manager when at 3 nil he decides to manage the minutes of two young lads - only for the team to completely crumble. Happens time and time again, we have a mad 10 minutes - no leaders on the pitch. Squad full of players who think they are better than they are. Only 2 or 3 consistently stand up to be counted. The injuries are without doubt a big part of the problem.

Do what you want with him but until we sort our recruitment / football structure of the pitch we will kneecap any manager. Major squad reconstruction needed whoever is managing the club.

Doesn't excuse not being able to organise a defence. Guy's a clown.

This is a very Mourinhoesque rant at the press, when they have the temerity to point out his team's failings.

Yes United are in the 3rd Cup final of Ten hag's tenure, yes they are in the 5th game at Wembley in 2 seasons, but if (as expected) the team get rolled over again by city on 25th May what's the point?

Nonsense, the absolute landslide of over the top stick he's had from the media dating back to the Brentford 4 nil has been comical. Last year despite playing about 60 games it was "they haven't beaten anyone" and now this year we are mean to be embarrassed about reaching a cup final.

The depths the media go in this country to have a dig at United is amusing. Yeh, we are pretty crap but theres a 3 way title race going on lads- have a chat about them instead. Same number of points as Newcastle, completely different coverage. One has had a season kneecapped due to injuries, the other has 60 odd including 2 of its most important all season - embarrassing in reaching a cup final including beating a side they were dribbling on about winning a quad at one point :D Is it our fault Wolves lost to them

Long may it continue, keep talking about us lads its cute really

I would lay the blame at his door for complacency, thought "it's only covvy city" and "we're 3-0 up, my gran could be in goal and we'd still win"

but as with Klopp and some of his selections recently, including leaving Salah, Nunez and Szoboszlai on the bench away to Fulham with diddly squat else to play for this season, have to question if he is the manager why is he absolved of the blame when it suits fans for decisions and inability to control what is happening on the pitch....???

when covvy thought they'd scored I was quite pleased, but not so bothered when it was ruled out as mancs might give citeh more of a game, but based on that performance, and others, not so sure

some will credit the mancs for the win over Liverpool previous round, bottom line is I blame Klopp there, pushing for a 4th goal and getting caught in possession twice, once just outside the box trying to play their way forward, and the winner lost outside manc box and only one defender anywhere near to defend it and inevitably couldn't. mancs took advantage but was poor in game management and tactics, prime example of gung ho

Why wouldn't a Man United manager, who has spent a lot of money, get criticised when Manchester United are 7th in the table and playing terribly?

He's getting shit because most of the players he's bought (or asked the club to buy) for ludicrous amounts have turned out to be absolute crap or absolute crocks. I'll give Onana a pass because despite several howlers he's still a massive step up from de Gea, but £85 million for Antony, £72 million for Hojlund, £60 million for Mount (sicknote), £57 million for Martinez (sicknote), £52 million for Casemiro (sicknote - too old), Malacia £17 million (sicknote). In fact I'd say his best signing has been 85 year old Jonny Evans on a free.

In my humble opinion our best players this season have been Garnacho and Mainoo, both free academy players, and Maguire and McTominay, both of whom were for sale in a very high profile manner last summer (and to be fair I'd have sold at least one of them too).
