Certainly don't think losing the games or the shootouts are down to a weak or poor mentality from Chelsea. However, at the very top end of the game it's all about marginal gains and ever so slight advantages. Klopp spoke quite a lot about employing neuroscientists to help Liverpool with penalty shootouts and set pieces. He said they'd done a lot of work with them this week in preperation for the final. No idea if Chelsea do similar but I know Liverpool have put a lot of emphasis on the mental side of the game and work with a lot of psychologists etc. I wonder if that made a difference in these situations? You'd think even the slightest of advantages can make a huge difference at the very highest level and Klopp certainly seems to think id did. Klopp dedicates shootout win to neuroscience co. Might be a load of rubbish of course but everything Liverpool do seems to be off the back of data and science and they're getting the results to back it up so wouldn't be surprised if it does make a difference. Chelsea may do similar tbf so not saying it's why they lost both games but I also don't think it's as simple as penalties just being a lottery either.
Same here, didnt think it was the borefest most are saying it was. **** if you want borefests go look at a couple of Liverpool v Man United finals, the 96 one in particular was just about the worst game of "football" ive ever watched. I mean the most notable thing about that final still, is the white/cream suits David James conned the players into wearing I think people are just bored of Liverpool v Chelsea games to be honest. I dont mind them, they're as you say geneally good tactical battles. Chelsea always seem to be really up to the games too, I guess it was the same when they were the better side a few years back. Put it this way, I'd prefer to watch a good battle like that than say City smashing Watford out of sight in a totally mis matched game.
Wasn't the best final by any stretch, but the Chelsea Liverpool games is generally a tactical battle rather than your end to end games you get if it was against City etc. Chelsea had some good chances to win the game in normal time, but Ali made some crucial saves to keep us in the tie. We also had our chances but the post was probably the closest we had to winning the game. Dreaded the penalty shootout, it's not a nice way to lose a final. But when Mane was saved, I thought that was the tide turner and it was going to go in the favor of Chelsea and that was it for us, but man Ali I ****ing love you. Cup double so far, happy ****ing days.
I wouldn't classify Arsenal and Leicester as better sides than us. I'm a firm believer losing, like winning, becomes a habit. People want to argue small margins but over the past several seasons I have seen enough to suggest there is something wrong with the mentality of our players. Why we always drop our form around November to February, why we always become a charity case for bottom side clubs, and in certain high pressing situations we fail to do enough. Tuchel instructing Mount to take the penalty and Mount's reaction to it was a bit bizarre and i'm not surprise he missed. Tuchel has been pushing above his weight all things considered but unless there is a massive overhaul we are going to expect more of the same. I personally hope this was the last time Lukaku wears a Chelsea shirt.
Head is still spinning and I've got no voice ,having to point out things with f*cking hand signals much to the annoyance of the wife . What a glorious day that was ,just one big party with a guest list of thousands ,its my wedding anniversary tomorrow so I've just booked a meal and a hotel with a massive f*ck off Bouquet. I couldn't be happier right now and I dedicated yesterdays win to my old man with a few tears shed. Love everything about this team and the manager
Imagine if we had brought him off the bench for the last 20 mins of the second half when Chelsea were dead on their feet though ?
It's pretty mad that we've played 240 minutes of football in both finals without scoring a single goal and yet we have two trophies to show for it Whatever happens from here on out, it has been a season to remember.
“Destroyed Chelsea” with zero goals or assists in a 0-0 match. Liverpool fans genuinely can’t help themselves. Will sensationalise anything.
Is this like a default siggy or something? As you seem to repeat it on every ****ing post You come across like most Everton fans to be honest, hate Liverpool more than you like your own club "Liverpool this, Liverpool that, Liverpool fans this, Liverpool fans that"
They've titled it to gain clicks, no need to sensationalize the title. Destroying is too far, Diaz could have a nice montage of running your defenders ragged across the 2 finals though tbf (and firing the ball wide). Yeah think some getting carried away by the awful extra time. The 90 minutes had plenty of chances.
It wasn't the most entertaining game but it was far from boring! If the game was that boring why didn't people just turn over?
Really enjoyed the game there, voice is still in recovery, thought over the 90 it was intense, enjoyable, and a much better 0-0 than many I've seen. Extra time you could tell both teams were knackered and didn't want to risk anything.
Its booing anything to do with "the establishment". We've been let down for 33 years by the "establishment" in not getting justice for the 97 fans killed at Hillsborough. 33 years on and still no justice, despite there being overwhelming evidence of neglect by Duckenfield and the SYP. Plus the fact Thatcher and the "establishment" with the help of their right wing media/gutter press cronies covered it all up and blamed it on drunken Liverpool fans, something that was later found to be total bull. Heard all kinds of shite over the weekend about it being anti Prince William, protests about foodbanks and poverty and all kinds of other garbage. People are acting like its a new thing, we've been doing it for years now. I'd bet Prince William knows full well whats its all about so I doubt it hurt him in anyway. Its not specifically anti Royal family....its just as I said, anti "the establishment" which the Royal Family are part of. It is telling though that a lot of people are more outraged with Liverpool fans booing the NA than they are outraged with The Queen paying off the under aged girl Prince Andrew sexually abused with £12m (or was it £15m?) of tax payers pounds!!! or more outraged than when City "fans" booed and sung during the minutes silence for the Hillsborough anniversary in the Cup Final Semi this year.
