Spain scored 2 goals in the 2015 World Cup, 4 goals in 2019 and 18 this year

Oh well, wasn't to be. Spain the better team and deserved it.

Still, European champions and World Cup runners-up. Not too shabby.

Christ almighty, criticism of the lack of diversity here...I honestly have no words to describe what utter bollocks it is to criticise a sporting team for a lack of diversity.

Probably not even a football or sports fan I suspect if that is his first thought about them.

Goodness knows what he'd think of tennis and cricket then!

Trouble with these sort of big sporting occasions.

You get people who probably never have watched in this case football before giving their own angle on things.

Bit likes when the Olympics or Ashes cricket comes around.

    Everyone suddenly becomes an "expert"

We did lose the Euros final because of a negative manager. We lost this game because they played appallingly and barely had a shot when chasing a lead in a World Cup final. It was tough to watch really, because they were great in the semi but looked utterly hopeless in this match. Might make it easier to stomach though, losing to the clear better team.

If it was the men's team I'd have to have had six pints before watching it to calm my nerves, and would have been devastated for a week. But as it was the wimmin's team I'll have a biscuit, read a book for a bit, then go to bed without giving a sh#t.

****ing hell, this is horrible. RIP to him, have to feel for the poor girl having such conflicted extremes of emotions, possibly the pinnacle of her life so far tainted by the hardest news.

The old lets play the race card as someone has a massive chip on their shoulder.

England reached the final so they obviously picked the correct standard of players irrespective of their skin colour.

In all honesty on the day the better team won - the Spanish attack and midfield were like a swarm of bees around the Lionesses and that really threw the performance out of kilter. :shrug better luck next time ladies

Yeah, totally fed up of it. You put the best players out - who cares what skin colour they are. Surely it's racist if you pick someone based on skin colour.

Same with normal jobs. Imagine being black and find you got hired not because you're any good, but just to fill a quota. Must do your self-esteem wonders.

And considering the England ladies just got to 2 finals in a row, the selection criteria is clearly going pretty well.

The team arrived back at Heathrow and some fans waited through the night to see them. The players were hurried through a private exit.

Now if the men had done that the shit they would have received would have been off the scale.

The women do it and they get it easy. Can't be critical can we.

Can't help feeling a little bitter. 8 of the Spain squad that ended up winning asked not to be picked in protest of the manager. Wonder if they'll still want him sacked now.

Surely the guy will leave on a high !

Got this whole palaver with the President of the Spanish FA kissing the goalscorer on her lips as they collected their medals as well.

I've watched the video and while it's obviously a stupid thing to do it did seem like he was just acting in a moment of 'pure exultation', as he put it. It lasted less than a second.

Can totally understand why it would make a woman feel uncomfortable but I think the calls from him to resign from his post are a bit OTT personally, unless there are other instances in his past I'm not aware of. Everything seems to be so extreme these days.
