Another win for Sainz over Leclerc .

Are Mercedes now the 4th team behind McLaren?

    Yep.

It's OK, Lewis will be in that Ferrari next year.

The Mercedes team principal, Toto Wolff, has conceded Max Verstappen is already world champion elect, declaring the Red Bull driver cannot be caught this season after a third dominant win from four races.

“No one is going to catch Max this year,” Wolff said. “His driving and the car are just spectacular. You can see the way he manages the tyres and basically this season now is best of the rest. That’s the fact, that is all, but hopefully we can catch up to the McLarens and to the Ferraris and fight for P2. This is what it is this year and what is was last year and we had a P2 last year.”

‘No one is going to catch Max’: Wolff says F1 title is already Verstappen’s to lose

Great advert for the sport. :zzz

Forgot it was even on this weekend. Suzuka is one of the great tracks but I can't be bothered to watch the highlights.

You know it’s bad when Suzuka is boring.

Good job from Sainz again, that’s about all I can say about the race

Didn’t watch it, seeing the RB 1-2 is enough for me.

Sainz has raced 3 times this season and got 3 podiums. Criminal that it actually looks quite unlikely that he’ll have a seat next year. Only option was looking like that Mercedes shitbox, which he’d take because it’s better than nothing, but they seem pretty set on Antonelli anyway.

makes sense to me but no sense at the same time?

How can he be on social media showing off his new uk factory then buy a team who are based in italy and are never ever going to suit?

(IMO you simply cannot succeed if you are second fiddle to ferrari in that country)

No. Rumours are it’s Alpine. RB won’t sell they’re far too greedy.

Either way just add an 11th team it’s ****ing ridiculous. Andretti are so prepared it’s such an insult to the sport.

They’d shut it down and move operations to America. Why would they have to stay in ToroRosso’s old factory?

Fernando Alonso: Aston Martin driver signs new deal until end of 2026

Fernando Alonso has signed to stay with Aston Martin in Formula 1 for at least the next two seasons.

Alonso, 42, who was out of contract at the end of this season, has a new deal that will extend until at least the end of 2026, Aston Martin said.

It means Alonso will be driving in F1 at least until he is 45, and possibly beyond.

He said retirement "never went to my mind", adding: "I felt I love driving too much to stop at the moment."

Staying at Aston Martin was a "natural decision", once Alonso had made up his mind that he was prepared to make the life sacrifices that would be required by staying in F1.

Good for him, still one of the top drivers on the grid and can still put in a great performance on his day.

Alonso should have more than 2 world titles imo but he's made some terrible choices.

This new contract being another one. He's proven his talent to all the new fans of the sport by now, he should just retire and let younger drivers get their chance.

Unless he knows that Newey is moving to Aston Martin, in which case, understandable.

Can't agree with that logic. Why should he move aside just to let younger people race? He is still very good, performing very well.

Plus he is at a team that is spending a lot of money to become good. New facilities at Silverstone etc. I think he has made a good call staying here. Honda engines coming up as well, so they'll be quick.

He was never going to go to RB. Mercedes was always an outside bet as well.

    Norris on sprint pole/'

    Verstappen only 4th.

Max might have to work hard for a bit then.

Rain helped Alonso and Hamilton - two masters in the wet.

I'd bet he stays out of trouble and drive around to take the few points. Those in front of him are zero danger to his title race with "a ferrari driver"

Max said the red bull handled like shit in the wet. No rain forecast for the race though sadly. Max will make up the positions easily.
