I really hope Ferrari get him. Obviously it will make no odds next season but he will have a big influence on the 2026 car. Might give Lewis and Leclerc a chance to race in a competitive car again. I'd happily see Red Bull fall away again for a few years like they did after Vettel tbh. Have Ferrari, Mercedes and McLaren battling it out at the top.

    He’s off to Sauber .

    Nico Hulkenburg that is !

With a view to being a German driver for Audi in 2026?

Yeah. The Audi rollover is already confirmed too, it’s multi-year.

Sainz is the other one they really want but he can’t seem to come to a decision despite it apparently being a very good deal. Ambassador role and stuff.

I guess it’s quite high risk, car wise. If Mercedes didn’t have such a terrible car I think they’d already have his signature.

Fun fact, both times Hamilton has switched teams Nico Hulkenberg has signed for Sauber that same year

I suppose he’s weighing up whether it’s worth joining a backmarker for 2025 in order to play the long game. Must be difficult when Red Bull and Merc are sniffing around him at the minute though and they’re so visibly ahead of Sauber currently, but another spanner in the works with Newey leaving makes it all the more difficult

Would love to believe the rumours that Max is going to sit down for talks with Merc after Miami but dunno if the sources are any good.

Can’t help but think Newey ends up at Aston Martin. Despite Lance Stroll being there still there’s a lot to suggest they are going places. Big investments in the infrastructure, working with a top driver like Alonso and the opportunity to remain in the UK unlike if he were to join Ferrari

Reportedly been offered over 100 million per year too

Yeah. I do think he will end up at Aston. Two drivers he’s always wanted to work with are Lewis and Fernando and like you say, with Aston he gets to stay in the uk. He’s 65 now as well.

Ferrari are also going to offer him $100m as well though.

30 years this week since the tragic deaths of Senna and Ronald Ratzenberger at Imola .

Remember this weekend as a kid watching .

    Very sad .

Reports are Aston doesn’t interest him.

Regarding the UK thing apparently the majority of his work now is already done remotely so that wouldn’t really need to change. I personally think it’s Ferrari or retirement.

Apparently Newey might have some sort of gardening leaving which means he cannot work till 2027?

That would be an insane clause. It’s meant to be a year, with room to negotiate.

So he could effectively start next May and get to work on the 2026 car, possibly earlier.

Confirmed that Newey will be leaving Red Bull in 2025.

Sounds like he’s stepping away from the F1 side now and getting involved in other RB projects till he leaves?

On that Hypercar yeah. Rumour from a while back they were trying to push him onto that anyway to free up some “F1 budget” and he wasn’t happy about it.

Because he’s no longer working in F1 anymore gardening leave effectively kicks in now making him a free agent next spring.

Hopefully to another team to influence the new car. Hopefully Ferrari.

He might see the next 12 months on this Hypercar as a bit of a “break”, it will be much more relaxing than F1.

I'm really hoping he goes Aston Martin, seeing a "2nd tier" team successful and I would love to see Alonso win another title.

It will be Ferrari though, they'll dominate and Hamilton will get the title he wants. Not even the terrible leadership and strategy will be able to hold them back.

It's going to be horrendous, Hamilton & Ferrari fanboys joining forces.
