So really you aren’t too bothered about Alonso and another title, you just don’t want Lewis to win one?

Alonso last won a title 18 years ago. He has retired, won Le Mans and returned. I think it would be a great story.

Before Verstappens boring domination, we had years of boring Mercedes/Hamilton domination.

Yeah I can’t disagree. Turned me off the sport for years.

Lewis winning would almost be a nice comeback story too. He hasn’t had a sniff for approaching 3 years now.

Other than the fact I like him and he deserves the 8th title.

Newey needs to return to Williams and prove to them he should have been made Technical Director all those years ago. The Ferrari job would be too easy. Aston Martin would be a nice challenge too.

Has said in the past he would like to work with Alonso.

Alonso and Hamilton but also Ferrari. I think the lure of Ferrari will be too much now from what I’m reading.

You would have to feel the combo of Newey, Hamilton and Ferrari would be untouchable.

Not necessarily a good thing; we don't want one team dominance anymore.

Doubt Lewis will stick around if he wins an 8th title.

If he is dominating, he will stay to cement his legacy. Seeing how quickly numbers can rack up, he'll want to put space at the top and make it harder for Max/someone else to match it.

I agree. I don’t see why he would rush off to retirement. I don’t think next year will be very competitive, it’s the same regs and with or without Newey it should still be quite straightforward for Max and Red Bull.

If Lewis is back to winning races again and even if he edges the title in 2026 I don’t see why he doesn’t add another couple of years. Not like he has a wife and kids or anything either.

Lewis has hinted to retirement a few times in the past. I didn’t even think he’d still be racing now. I do think if he wins the title in 2026 then he’ll retire or do 1 more season.

I do think he's got 8 on the brain but just don't see it.

He hasn't had "it" and Russell who's bang average and makes loads of mistakes is getting the quali done.

I can't ser him pushing le clerc aside if those are the dominant car next.

I think it will be more competitive.

You only need a few 10s to turn this into a real contest and to replicate the air flows on the rear tyres to keep them from falling off a cliff.

The gap is there's but it's not engine and it's not massive so it's about getting thst bit quicker and that bit more easy on the tyres while doing it.

He’s disinterested atm because he hates the car. Look at Danny Ric in the McLaren for example. He needs a better car or he will get bored.

Precisely. Newey shouldn't go to any team, if Liberty and FOM had any sense whatsoever they'd be actively throwing the kitchen sink at Newey to appoint him as the guy who decides the regulations each season to avoid dominant spells. Who better to do that than Newey?

Sudden thought ... anyone think Lewis was told that Ferrari have a very good chance of getting Newey in and that was part of the reason for the move? And part of Ferrari getting Newey was because they managed to get Lewis?

If Newey is to go to another team I only care about him going to Ferrari (coz of lewis) or Williams (to finish the story) all the other teams have no F1 heritage (other than Mclaren) or link to him.

Quite possibly. Lewis has seemed quite coy in some interviews in Miami, almost like he knows something.

IMG_7451.jpeg Some huge updates for McLaren this weekend, interested to see how well they do. Desperate for the first Lando win, can’t be too far away now.

Also hate this sprint format and two sprint weekends back to back should be illegal.
