Both Bordeaux & Lyon will be fine. Things are quite chaotic at Lyon because the sugardaddy left the ship to a guy that knows nothing about football and the city of Lyon. The transition was always going to be difficult.

Textor might not know much compared to Aulas, but at least he seems to be a proper fan of the game. Or isn't he?

PSG beaten at home having been held there on the opening day.

For a team that seem to dominate the league they do have a few slip ups .

Didn't go last night but from what I heard, Enrique is trying to build something and it's going to take more than 5 games before we start looking half decent (which says a lot of Lyon's quality). Some battles need to be lost and I'd rather it be in the league than finishing 2nd in the group stage.

Bad night for Balogun of Monaco.

Missed 2 penalties then Nice grab an injury time winner !

Yes, just watched the highlights. Nice, Nice! (um, sorry. I should just go sit in the corner for that.)

    But I have a question:

Why wasn’t Stade Louis-II filled to its 16,000+ capacity for this unique early-season top-of-the-table clash between Rivals of the Riviera?

Official attendance was just a bit over 10,000. Many good central seats empty but many around the curves, too. Would attendance been better had it not been a Friday Night Matchup? Is support for football too scant in this region of France? I mean when will there ever be this epic a match between these two rival clubs?

Simple: both clubs have no fans. Monaco/Nice is bigged up as an important derby but really nobody cares. Louis II does fill up when Marseille come and visit and Nice/Marseille is pretty big so the rule is: no Marseille, no sell-out.

I think Brest should take the Ligue 1 table results after match week 6, reproduce it in the Medieval manner with exquisite calligraphy, illustrations, and gold leaf. Place it in a sealed container for museum display, then disband the club while On Top. Retire in their Brittany stronghold and hang out by the sea basking in glory.

Or, they could just travel to Nice for match week 7, for yet another interesting and unexpected top-of-table matchup in Ligue 1, win it, stay in first, and watch everyone’s tongues hang out in disbelief.

Good draw at Nice by Brest last weekend to stay tied in points for 1st. Another tough Brittany squad, I wanna see their mascot take on the Rennes rugby tackler now.

I know it became a bit of a meme in itself last year.. but Will Still is genuinely still doing a great job at Reims!

Was at the game last night as I was in the area for a race. Not that fussed about the postponement (correct decision of course) as I didn't go down south just for that game (attended a Coupe de France game at Fos-sur-Mer which was great) but as ever in a Marseille home game, people from all around the country planned their trip around that game and it was cancelled because some idiots threw flares at the Lyon coach.

    Shame.

    This hasn't aged well...

From a personal point of view, really enjoying the Coupe de France. Went to 3 new grounds for the round of 32 and just got back from Limoges last night where Lyon struggled to knock out 4th tier Bergerac Périgord.
Finding suitable grounds for minnows that are still in the competition is proving to be a real tough ask (especially since the round of 16 is only 2 weeks after the round of 32 leaving very little time to plan ticketing & logistics). Another example is the game I'm attending tomorrow: Racing (the Paris one not Lens or Strasbourg) are "hosting" Lille at a ground that isn't theirs (its home is being suggar-coated for the olympics) at Chambly next to Beauvais (north of Paris). This wasn't the first choice of where to play the game but the complete and utter lack of solidarity of the greater Paris administrations meant that this is where the game is going to be played (which is the same ground Racing played at in the round of 32 this time knocking out Chambly, the actual tenant of the ground).
Then you have the ticketing. At first the north stand was going to be 75% Racing and 25% but then for security measures it was decided that the whole stand would be for away fans (increasing the amount of tickets for Lille from 300 to 1,500 which is great for the away following) but Lille were lazy and refused to sell those tickets so we're going to have a stand which is 3/4ers empty (bearing in mind that the ground has 3 stands instead of 4 as the east side has as hill next to it Braga style). A real shame as the northerners usually travel in numbers to grounds and aren't rowdy (us French like to say it's the beginning of the UK in terms of football enjoyment).

All good fun I suppose. Shame games will be played in midweek after this round of games...

Long way to go yet. Roy is rather isolated in that regard and PSG will never back it as we pay refs to get penalties (we used to concede them to bigger clubs like Man United but the tide has now turned). Since PSG is where all the money is I reckon VAR is here to stay for a long, long time.

Again VAR's prime and sole aim for me is to make the sport even more corrupt than it already was.

Is that being honest or a bit sarcastic as that is what people say about PSG (and other big clubs )

    ;)

Both. UEFA don't want us to lose. That Newcastle pen the latest example.
