At the risk of sounding like an old fart, posting in the Konami thread got me reminiscing about how good past games were. So which games left a lasting impression on you growing up because you could play them again and again? Here goes my list: Lemmings John Barnes European Football Kick-Off 2/3 Sensible Soccer Football Glory Goal! International Superstar Soccer Pro Evo 4/5/6 Street Fighter 2 Mortal Kombat Cool Spot Cannon Fodder Desert Strike Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 Lotus Turbo Challenge 3 Road Rash Championship Manager 2 Championship Manager 3
Crash Bandicoot Mario Rayman This Is Football Beehive Bedlam (on sky games) Lemmings FIFA street (the og) The Simpsons (Road Rage + Hit & Run) Sims Pokémon Here Comes the Pain
I have very clear memories of playing FIFA 98 despite being only 3 when it came out. It's literally my earliest memory. Other than that, COD4 (campaign and online) and Ultimate Team on FIFA10 through to about FIFA 13 are what give me the greatest nostalgia. Spent days and days and days on all of those. Great times. Oh and in between those two points in time, Crash Bandicoot 3 Warped (something like that?) was immense. The perfect game for its era.
James Bond goldeneye (played it at my cousins on their n64) Fifa 98 (palace were in it for once!) Spyro ps1 Pokémon on game boy colour Wwf raw (can’t remember it’s exact name) Colin McRae rally 98 (had my parents escort as one of the playable cars so was always using it ) A load more too that I cant remember off of the top of my head. Pokemon Red/Blue on the old yellow/green screen gameboys Final Fantasy VII Crash Bandicoot Sonic The Hedgehog on Sega MegaDrive EDIT: Forgot Rollercoaster Tycoon! recently bought it on my phone so I could play it again, best game ever made. They all remind me of being a wee lad in my room. With no mates. Not much has changed tbh.
Sonic Trilogy Streets of Rage 1+2 Coolboarders 2 Metal Gear Solid Syphon Filter 1+2 Crash Trilogy Spyro Trilogy It was truly a blessed time. The nostalgia I get from them is overwhelming.
TMNT 2, Streets Of Rage 2, ISS Deluxe, Donkey Kong Country, Destruction Derby 1&2, Zelda: Link To The Past, Metal Gear Solid, Mario Kart, Formula One, Mario, Goldeneye, Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 64, Mario 64... That's like the 5-12 years old period, this list could get very long.
In more recent times Super Smash Brothers and Cod Black Ops (Zombies) have kept me occupied but still not a patch on the oldies.
On the old C64, spents many hours, days, weeks and months pmaying International Soccer on cartridge. Revenge of the mutant camels (I think that was what it was called) The Double Tracksuit manage championship manager Pole position Daley Thompsons decathlon (broke so many joysticks playing this) Sent from my SM-J710F using Tapatalk
Recently bought a raspberry pi. Amazing to see how hard the games are compared to what I remember when I was younger.
Ah, a true "connoisseur" . Before the C-64 I had an Atari 2600 with these ROM Modules. But when the C-64 came out (and the "Datasette" and later the Hard Drive) this was my real starting point. Had hundreds of Discs, exchange it with my mates (yeah, I know ) For me it was the Winter and Summer Olympics games. My favourite C-64: Oh so many, The Pac man series, Lode Runner, Donkey Kong .....ah yes and Beach Head and Beach Head 2 (The Dictator strikes back ) btw: I heard that they want to bring back the C-64 too in this recent "Nostalgia trip" wave. Should come with 64 games included. I don't think I would enjoy these "pixelated" ones anymore after seeing what's possible now. Actually I am playing the recently published God of War (the 4th)on my PS4
Some absolute classics you mentioned there, especially Pacman and Donkey Kong. Summer games was brilliant, but the loading time with the cassette was ridiculous. Not sure I'll bother with the C-64 comeback. It'll spoil my happy memories of playing on it instead of doing my homework
NES: Super Mario 3 Goal Turtles Ghostbusters Mega drive: Theme park FIFA 97 (indoor pitches) Premier Manager 97 Streets of rage Olympics 96 NHL 96 Super Street Fighter N64: Goldeneye WWF No Mercy ISS 64 Mario 64 Mario Kart Zelda OOT Star Wars Racer Banjo Kazooie PS1/PS2: GTA 3/Vice city/San Andreas Pro evo series Gran Turismo 2 Tony Hawks pro skater 1 and 2 Tiger woods golf games XBOX 360: FIFA series from roughly 09 to 15 PS4; GTA 5 FIFA series 16 to present That is in chronological order obviously and you can see where my interest has changed. In the last 10 years or so it has just been about FIFA or FM with the odd bit of GTA thrown in. Can't be arsed with big long drawn out games with stories behind them. During this time from when I got the PS1 I also had a PC alongside it and absolutely played the following games to death from the early 00s to now... The Sims Champ Man 01/02 (probably put 1000s if not tens of 1000s of hours into this alone over time) in terms of gameplay and lasting legacy probably the best game of all time in my opinion. FM series from probably FM 2010 to now...havent actually got the latest one though. Civilization 5. Lost hours to this also.
Will always love NES Turtles. First video game I ever played, after my brother got a NES for Christmas. Was very young and I got so into it. The daft thing is, when I go back and play it again, I don't just see a primitive NES game, but almost buy into it as I did back then. If I cut it down to the most significant games from each era: Turtles (NES) Mario 3 (NES) Street Fighter II (SNES) Final Fantasy VII (PS1) Resident Evil (PS1) Mario Kart (N64) Goldeneye (N64) Zelda OOT (N64) GTA III (PS2) Pro Evolution Soccer (PS2) Plus various wrestling games on the N64 - Warzone, Attitude, WCW Revenge, Wrestlemania 2000, No Mercy. Was usually an upgrade around the corner, so none of them were played for all that long a time, but there would always be some multiplayer on the go on one game or another. N64 really was a great console. Oh and Champ Manager/Football Manager before it turned into utter shit.
Tomb Raider Spyro Fifa 97 and 98 International track and field Road Rash Crash Bandicoot Destruction Derby Driver Age of Empires Battlefield 2 (pc)
Forgot about Sensible World of Soccer. Absolutely addictive. I didn't have it but my mate did and i would make up any excuse I could to go round and play it.
