Probably won't make a huge difference in this group but I also believe there are no capacity restrictions in Budapest so they can open a full stadium. Small advantage which may help them in this group, probably not given the three teams in it though.
Russia, Denmark and Scotland all lost at home so far, Spain only drew. I agree the format is rubbish but it's not unfair. There are multiple hosts, they all get games at home, that's the way it works and always has worked.
You claim that England and Scotland being at home gives them an unfair advantage over the Czechs who have none, yet they beat Scotland and are above England on goal difference. Gary Neville's managed to worm his way onto one of the pundit panels at last, he must have felt proper left out. The bird presenting is lovely too. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
Surprised that in the most winnable game in the group the Portuguese have chosen 2 sitting midfielders in Carvalho & Danilo .
In fairness mate there's more than enough attacking talent in the other 4 and I'd wager the fullbacks will be playing more like wingers with those two you mentioned sitting deep. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
We should still get through but I am much more pessimistic about our chances without Cancelo. He’s crucial to the way we play and offering an outlet down the right hand side Semedo just isn’t up to the same standard I’m not too surprised actually. Santos is a conservative manager and William isn’t much of a sitting defensive midfielder anymore. The difference in our passing play with William on the pitch is vast, he adds some zip and intent to our progression from midfield the attack. I’d expect Danilo to be the true defensive midfielder in this one
Exactly. The format for this Euro (If I remember correctly, it was installed back then by corrupt Michel Platini to "celebrate" 60 years of Euro competition) is rubbish. But it's funny that this discussion comes out now in this group because Germany hosts 3 matches at home (by reduced capacity of 20%) against the World Champion France (which we haven't beaten at home since 1987!) and against Euro Champion Portugal but it seems it's totally ok that England (given they'll win their group) can nearly play all the matches at Wembley, too (bar the quarterfinals if I remember correctly). Double standards? Actually home "advantage" isn't an advantage for Germany for some years now because the fans are extremely critical with our team since the abysmal performances of the World Cup 2018 and the following Nations League. Maybe the team can regain some faith with the fans in this tournament, who knows.
There's some serious talent in that Portugal front line and midfield though. I can see Hungary causing problems but being outscored, and possibly outscored massively. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
The Portuguese don't strike me as a high scoring team for all their talent in that department could be wrong though.
Love Ronaldo screaming at Jota for not passing when theres absolutely no way he'd pass in that position. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
It's not unfair, there are always hosts in tournaments and it's part of the sport. It is an advantage though to be hosts, I don't know how that can be denied. It's why there was so much demand and interest to be one from all of the federations. You can look at the record of sides at home compared to away to see that quite evidently, and the record of hosts in major tournaments as well.
In the last 4 seasons Ronaldo has something like 5 goals from outside the box. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
