Having been worried our latest purchase of Diogo Jota would be a costly flop, then seeing him come in and look as instant superstar had me thinking of Klopps buys...his success rate with transfers has been nothing short of world class, I can only think of Karius (and he was dirt cheap) thats been a flop or not brought a decent profit when sold on. Players bought by Jürgen Klopp - LFChistory - Stats galore for Liverpool FC! Success, flop or profit...you decide Grujic - £5m - Whilst not breaking into our first team, we've recouped his fee and more via loans and if sold today would bring in £20m or so. Profit Garaba - £250,000 - As above Profit Mane - £30m - Huge Success Karius - £4.7 - Safe to say a flop, but not an expensive one. Flop Matip - Free - Huge Success Klavin - £4m - Really useful and cheap covering player. Success Wijnaldum - £25m - Splits opinion, many dont rate him, I do and he's been integral in our success - Success Salah - £43m - Huge Success Solanke - £4m - Sold on for big £15m profit, so...Profit Andy Robertson - £10m - Absolute gem of a buy - Success Ox - £35m - Tough one is Ox, injuries, fitness and inconsistency make him hard to say a success, but still don't rate him as a flop. Pass Van Dijk - £75m - Best CB on the planet and without a doubt, Success Keita - £52m - Same as Ox, hard to judge, although I do feel he has a lot more to come, so another Pass Fabinho - £43m - The final piece of the jigsaw we've been missing for about a decade, top class def midfielder - Success Shaqiri - £13m - Suffered with a lot of injuries but has given us enough "good moments" to class him as a Success Becker - £65m - The other final piece in the jigsaw - Success Van Der Berg - £4m - Too early to judge so Pass Harvey Elliott - £?? not been decided yet? - Too early to judge but early signs is he'll be a huge hit. Pass Adrian - Free - Had good games, had bad games, just as sub goalies tend to do, stood in well enough at the beginning of last season so for a freebie, has to be a Success? Minamino - £7m - Too early to judge, but looks a very capable squad player at least, will give him a Pass Tsimikas - £12m - Too early, barely played, Pass Thiago - £20m - Getting a player of his class for £20m is a success and the limited opportunities he's had he looked every bit the world class midfielder he is...but as to be a Pass Jota - £45m - Boom....hit the ground looking like Salah mrk 2....early doors but already looking a huge Success So all those buy and only one, not very costly (fee wise) flop. Not too many managers that can boast a strike rate like that.
Any player still at the club is hard to refer to as a "flop", but I fear Keita might fall into this category eventually.
Not even sure I’d class Karius as a flop to be honest, for £4.7m we had a decent goalkeeper for a fair stretch, just got his confidence absolutely shattered by the mistakes and concussion in that final sadly.
Well many laughed at us for paying £30m for Mane, Salah was seen as a huge risk given his time at Chelsea, Alisson fee was sneered at, Robertson was supposedly "championship quality", had you heard of Matip pre Liverpool? Gini was considered not good enough for the fee, Jota's fee was severely questioned by pretty much everyone....but yeah, "no risks taken" Its not like we've bought players already showing anything near what they have for us. Van Dijk and Thiago apart maybe.
Posters on here laughed at the first few, everyone else though they good signings, i never heard anyone say Robertson was championship quality. I hadn't personally heard of Matip but plenty have. You basically spent a fortune on players that could easily fit into your side with very little risk attached to them, it's not like you went out and signed ryan sessegnon from Fulham in the championship is it? Mind you as with anything Liverpool/Klopp the cult will outweigh the facts, and in a few years time you'll have invented finding the stars in the same way you invented dressing at football and singing songs
Suppose so, although I never really felt comfortable with him in goal, similar to Mignolet. Decent keepers but you just knew a mistake or two were out there.
Ok Frannie, I mean ffs for someone that once told me "Southampton competed at a similar level to Liverpool through the 90s" you have a nerve chatting shit about "inventing stuff" So spending £40m on a player that had already flopped in this league isnt a risk? get the ****, bigger risk than most buy...
Who on Earth thought Salah was huge risk? He was quality at Basel and quality at Roma. He looked good for Chelsea but they dropped an absolute bollock by letting him go. Nobody ever said Liverpool signing Salah was a huge risk.
But he's still stood in for Alisson and did a fine job at it last season. A bit of both I'd say in truth. Perhaps him being a freebie sways me.
Oh c'mon mate you've spent more than most clubs on proven players, i had a memory fart where i thought we'd competed with you more than once. Of course you haven't taken risks, you've just bought into a cult that seems to think Klopp is a god not a manager who's very well backed with the chequebook
Sigh, why the **** is it Liverpool fans cant post positive shit without it being seen as a "cult" the manager is "god" and so on. I've seen hundreds of threads and posts highlighting the same thing with other clubs, just as biased, and **** all gets said. And posters claim WE ruin this forum ffs?
