**** me, I'm leaving it there, I think someones hacked Frannies account, either that or he's had a breakdown? Truly bizarre behaviour mate. Rumours have it Klopps thinking of sticking around for a bit. As for outlay? Its not really an "outlay" if you're constantly raising funds via sales. Any big sales from now on in will probs be funded via sales. In truth, its hard to tell given the current state of the world. Literally anything could happen over the next few years.
I love how i suggested that Klopp might not be the second coming of christ and i've had a breakdown, whereas the person who's gone on personal attacks and is losing it in a cultish way over any criticism of his deity is totally normal
Keep digging mate, keep digging Knows he's had a mare and now totally changing the direction of the argument
Surely you can see that he's no different to Pep or any others with a ton of money to spend? I mean Wilder, Nuno, hell even Rodgers are far better at finding gems than Klopp. Don't get me wrong Klopp did a great job in winning you your first premier league title during a season that should've been cancelled but he's not exactly an underdog unearthing gems is he?
Then maybe you could show me exactly where in the thread I even suggested this? I said his buying/success rate is top drawer because he's barely got a signing wrong, thats all I said ...this then led to your bizarre attack and mentions of cults
you clearly said he'd unearthed gems and was better than Ferguson, no idea why you're changing that now
I did? Where? I havent even mentioned Fergie ffs or "unearthing gems" stop making shit up just because you've had an absolute mare Can any poster go through this thread, apart from this delusional lunatic, and see where I suggested Klopp was better than Ferguson.
If Pope Francis doesn't beatify Klopp before the next round of Champions League I'm going to start burning shit down.
Does it matter if a signing has been a flop when Klopp has delivered the Premier League Title? Doubt it.
Studying the list and weighing it up I think both yourself and Frannietache have got a point. I agree with you that there was risk attached to the transfer fees of Van Dijk and Alisson, but Frannie has made an excellent point about you purchasing prime players for big money with no risk attached to performance itself. If Klopp does stick around it will be great but I think he's going to have to adapt his strategy, especially given Liverpool's frail finances of late. Raising funds won't be easy when your major assets are all the wrong side of 30, and your younger assets - like Jota - are earmarked to form the core of the side. Unfortunately you could be headed for something not dissimilar to Barcelona - ageing stars on huge money who just can't cut it anymore. Better would be to study what Sir Alex did, and more latterly what Frank Lampard is doing now, buying astutely and integrating academy players into the side. It'll be interesting to see whether Klopp can do that or not, or whether Liverpool's owner would be happy to continue spending big on players with little resale value.
I'm sorry Frannie lad, anyone reading this full thread, your posts, our reactions, etc must be sitting there thinking "Frannies on drugs" I truly dont know where this shits come from? Maybe the fact you rushed into the attack too sharpish without actually reading what you were attacking? which was merely a thread looking at Klopps signings We know you dislike Liverpool, and Klopp perhaps, but you have massively overacted to a harmless thread in a clubs own forum.
What on earth are you talking about ? Have you just had an argument with someone about something they haven’t even mentioned for the best part of three hours because you can’t read ? Stop drinking paint at work mate .
What point does he have? I have made a harmless list of players Klopp has bought and whether they were/have been flops or not, thats all, nothing sinister. I added at the end few managers can brag such a success rate, which in truth they can't, you being a Chelsea fan knows more than any big buys doesnt automatically mean a success buy. Look at Pep, spent about £300m on his defence, most have flopped. Frannie is trying to make out I'm claiming Klopps unearthed gems from the lower leagues, etc....I've done nothing of the sort FFS dont ever change mate
To answer this OP, the prices are the prices, really. The market dictates that, and if we have the money and can afford it without putting us in financial troubles (H&G style) then I don't really care as much what we spend... it's not really my money. A new jersey every year from me can only contribute so much What has set Klopp apart from his predecessors is the strategic way they've approached it (with Edwards). You can see they built from front-to-back with talented players that are still fairly under the radar so competition for signatures wasn't a big issue. We had a process where we built the first XI, plugging up gaps when we needed goals, then a midfield that can cope with Klopp's style, and finally a defense to make results less erratic. That, along with the patience of Klopp in waiting for his signings have resulted in easy culture fits, and even guys like Karius and Adrian had decent runs, even though nobody will really be building statues for them in Anfield. They've done well getting players who are willing to play a role and not be 'the man' necessarily, and that's allowed for guys like Shaqiri and Origi to have meaningful contributions with limited chances. We're now seeing that we're buying from a position of strength, which allows for guys like Thiago and Jota come through the door, that gives the squad different approaches to games. Certainly prefer the situation we're in now vs. panic buying Benteke or Balotelli.
It's a good list and a good thread. You've definitely made a good point that when Liverpool have gone really big they've done it really well and had success. And yes completely agreed that Chelsea have spunked cash on donkeys for sure - Kepa being the prime example - he's dogshit. I think Frannies point is twofold though - firstly that there's little risk when you're purchasing proven players in their prime and secondly that Klopp hasn't brought through any young "rough diamonds" and polished them up so to speak. It's something Ferguson did constantly - and that's why he was able to have sustained success. Bodes well for Lampard too. If Klopp does extend his stay he will either have to continue bringing in players in their prime (unsustainable) or study how Fergie / Lamps have done it I guess. That's my take on it anyway.
why do you constantly have to ruin decent posts with this crap about "Klopp constantly buying players in their prime, which is unsustainable" and how "Lampard has built success/non success around youth"? You talk as if we are buying superstars in their mid 30s and the likes? Klopp needs to "study" what Lampard has done?
The biggest gap right now is, to your earlier point, the core of the team are pushing 30, but the next generation is barely hitting 20. That's putting a lot of faith that those youngsters will be able to slot in at a higher level. Luckily the system used at the moment allows for those young players to get some time (particularly with injuries this season) without putting too much pressure on them. I'm guessing the acquisition of Jota and to a lesser degree, Minamino, is to address the inevitable departure of one of the front 3.
