Well Colin prooved today why he is in fact a w@nker! Making gestures to the Sheff players about the Hunt incident on Cech, and then making further comments on it after the game. Steve Coppell is a role model for the game in his behaviour and attitude on and off the pitch.
Steve Coppell's attitude? See's his assistant attack a visiting manager then clearly states in his post-match interview that he's done nothing wrong & will face no action from the club. Yeah, what a fantastic role model. I will reserve judgement on the Sidwell & Hunt challenges until I've seen them on telly later tonight but it appears that Warnock's body language, when he raised his foot, was an attempt by him to demonstrate to the ref that either one of the challenges was deserving of action from the ref.
Warnock has just said this on praise or grumble, apparently the referee heard what he said and will confirm it.
Why should he publically come out and say that Downes will face action? He'll do it behind the scenes and it'll be Madejski, not Coppell who does so. Look at our disciplinary record.
He quite clearly stated that Downes would not be facing any action from the club. He didn't say it would be dealt with internally he said that it wouldn't be dealt with at all. He has in effect condoned Downes physical attack on a visiting manager. Indeed he mentions Warnock's 'inflammatory body language' as if that is in itself justification for Downes's actions.
steve coppel hadnt been attacked by our assistant manager its easier to keep your cool if you havent been assaulted
Until we know what want on we can't really comment. 1) We don't know why Gillespie decided to elbow Hunt after a few seconds on the pitch 2) We don't know gesture Warnock was making that prompted Downes to confront him As for Sidwell's tackle - it was in front of me and it didn't seem like much. Both players appeared to go in studs up. I was very surprised Sidwell got booked for it and so were the majority of the other 8,000 in the East Stand. And to the match - a thoroughly concincing win and we were already in total control before those incidents.
We do. He raised to foot to to emphasise that a tackle or tackles by Reading players had been studs first. Warnock confirmed this in his post-match interview. Downes then attacked Warnock. A despicable act & one that Coppell judging by his comments fully endorses. Be interesting to see if Hunt does indeed race 20 off yards as has been suggested on other messageboards, to involve himself in the dugout melee.
Ever considered that Warnock might be lying? After all this the same man that was overheard telling his players to go after Gary Kelly last season? He's hardly going to say he was telling his players to kick the opposition is he? Also it takes alot for Coppell to get angry and the gesture that Warnock made upset him as well. Downes and Warnock have a history as well which would have attributed to this.
No I don't think Warnock was lying because the referee can corroborate the events as he was the one Warnock was talking to & gesticulated at immediately prior to Downes attack on him. I fully expect that Warnock will be exonerated of all blame for the incident. You are right to use a question mark in your comment about Gary Kelly because quite simply it is rubbish, another one of those anti-Warnock urban myths. Clearly both Coppell & Downes mis-read the meaning behind Warnock's raised foot gesture & Downes, who as you have said seems to have some sort of personal grudge against Warnock, used it as an excuse to attack him. An attack that Coppell through his post-match comments saw as justified.
However it is strange that these types of events seem to follow Warnock around far more than any other manager. I'm sure there is a reason for that.........
Just got back, none of the incident would have happened if Keef hadnt decided for whatever reason to alledgy elbow hunt. Must say it looked like Hunt had tugged him as they lined up for the throw and keef took exception to this and swung his elbow in the direction of Hunt. Dont know if any contact was made, I reserve judgement till I see it on tv but it was right infront of the lino (asst referee). At least I'll know the answer to the trivia question of the quickest sending off in the premiership. We were shite before this and never really trouble reading who werent brillant themselves but they didnt need to be. We need a midfielder our forwards did not get any supply at all today, we need a midfielder at soon. Please go away Reading posters, you hate Warnock and all is so rose on Planet Royal even though the Taxes on Planet Royal are extortionate. I hate Warnock but have to put up with him, please leave me in peace while I ponder
What an abject performance. Don't understand the dodgy formation we started with either. Never really looked like scoring apart from the consolation goal. As for Leroy Lita, what an absolute prick. I think he needs to invest in a new pair of boots, his current ones don't seem to be able to keep him on two feet.
Sh*t performance sh*t tactics sh*t midfield the only thing warnock did right was pissing them dirty southern c*nts off. And as for that dirty little gypo b@stard hunt i can see why chelsea fans wanted to lynch the tw@t s
Wow what a well educated and thought out post that was What exactly did Hunt do wrong Oh yes sorry. It was truly despicable the way he tried to bite Gillespie's elbow like that and then to run over and try to headbutt his forearm once he'd been sent off, again totally despicable and just one other point that doesn't appear to have been mentioned, to all those Blades Scum ( and I trust it was none of the guys on this forum ) That stood up and cheered when Sonko went down the 2nd time obviously in agony Go and get a life
Oh dear, you really have to learn to lose, are you not used to it by now? What did Hunt do wrong? Score against you?
As for the game, with no Doyle, Kitson, Shorey, Convey only just back and on the bench and then Sonko going off at 0-0 I thought we were bang in trouble. But you had no width and made it easy for us you could not put 3 passes together, I also think that we scored at great times. I hope you lot stay up but think you will have to finish above Wigan to do so?? On the fun and games, KG lost it had to go, Hunt did not dive he was whacked, he also did not go down when KG pushed him in the face AGAIN after he was Sent Off, many players would. The FA will look into this but I hope they leave it, on the Warnock thing it was a case of history coming back to bite him. Wally thought he was telling his players to nail us and fair play for having a go IF that his what he thought was going on....personally I dont think he was??? Oh and 3-1 get in, should have been more! We are staying up.......
no matter what Warnock may have done , and if even if Wally Downes mistakenly thought Warnock was telling our players to put the boot in ( a bit silly as warnock is aware that cameras at games are trained on him throughout) does that condone Wally ( never a more appropriate name) Downes entering our technical zone and assaulting him . AS FOR WARNOCK SHITTING HIMSELF , after watching it he never moved , just smiled at the sad old fart whod lost it
Yes I think it does, IF WALLY thought that NW was asking his players to kick us as below.... Then I think he should of had a go at him. What would NW do if he thought an oppo Manager was doing that??? Sidwells tackle was not that bad just a reason for NW to moan and not a stamp as below....
