Like I said, exactly the same was said when Bethesda was purchased. In 3 years time, you won't find any new Activision titles on PlayStation. I'd put money on it.

Would be a brave move given how popular cod is on ps. You'd think there'd be a big drop in revenue with the ps sales.

Loss leader. Make the games good enough, it will force COD playing PS5 owners to get a PC or Xbox. Either way, M$ win with the Gamepass subscription required.

I do. Ps4/XB1 was the worst generation for games, and there were very few exclusives. Unsuprisingly the best games of this gen were exclusives. When the games don't matter for selling consoles (as almost every game is available for each console), quality of games doesn't matter as much.

But the opposite of that is PlayStation owners now not being able to play Doom, Elder Scrolls, COD eventually and Xbox.owners not being able to play Spiderman, Horizon Zero Dawn or God Of War.

Just go to a mate's house who has the games, or wait until near the end of the generation and pick everything up cheap.

I'd rather have to make a choice between great games, than end up with a bunch of substandard games, because quality doesn't matter.

Downside of that is the cost if you plan to game locally and avoid cloud gaming. The Series X is the spec equivelant of a gaming PC with a 3060 RTX installed. That graphics card alone is going second hand on eBay for £600+ at the moment, and that's ignoring the rest of the setup, you're easily looking at £1000+.

The long term plan Microsoft have is to have anything that supports streaming. Within 2-3 years smart TVs will have the facility to cloud game with a keyboard/mouse/gamepad connected via Bluetooth.

I've checked out Gamepass Cloud gaming on my Series X. It's remarkable how well it works with minimal delay. Although that could be my 1gb fibre to property. Still not as good as local gaming of course.

I want to see a console released that is bundled with a keyboard, mouse, and a copy of something like Total War or Bannerlord, to see how it does as a competitor to a PC.

You talk as if they're mutually exclusive. Just because there is a lot of games on Gamepass, it doesn't mean most of them are shit. £10 a month for 200 games is still amazing value for money even if only 50 of them are 90%+ in quality. As opposed to paying £70 a pop for a game simply because it's AAA.

I didn't mention gamepass value once. I said exclusives are good for gaming, because it encourages game companies to make games good enough to sell consoles.

We just had a generation with barely any exclusives. The quality of games also happened to be the lowest since the Atari days.

Until you check your bank balance. So much scalping in PC hardware at the moment particularly graphics cards. It's a mugs game, I'm done with it and haven't built a gaming rig for about 5 years. I play some games on my GTX1070 Omen laptop, but for anything modern I use my Series X.

Not at all. A decent gaming PC costs an absolute fortune and when your graphics card becomes outdated it's a fortune to replace just that atm. Console players get a lot of kit for their money these days. Your biggest asset is some extra frame rate and an FOV slider. Hardly worth the money haha.

The biggest winners from all of this are actually Xbox owners which is a twat considering 6 months ago I sold my Series X and bought a PS5.

And not even that so much these days. More and more games coming to the Series X on 120fps with VFR to keep things smooth, assuming you have a TV/monitor that supports it.

The exact opposite with me. ;)

A decent graphics card will have a similar, if not longer life than a console tbf. Price is inflated atm cos of crypto farmers so it's not really an accurate representation of how much GPU's really tend to cost.

That said, console hardware actually seems legit this gen. Too bad there's not much to play on them atm imo. Having switched to PC a few years ago, the idea of having to pay for online capabilities is egregious too.

I've always considered the PC gaming malarkey a bit of con. Unless it's a serious hobby, I don't see why anyone would spend so much money on slightly better graphics.

I have a gaming pc, but I bought it for the games that I can't play on console, rather than, as you put it, slightly better graphics (usually at an insane cost).
