That was certainly a game of football. Asprilla summoned the spirit of Yousesef Safri with that strike.
Our best right back and probably one of the best in the league on the bench whilst we play a CM in his place, who cannot defend and has never played there in his life until a few weeks ago. Absolutely baffling. And unfortunately that CM playing at RB was out of position for two of their goals. Dele Bashiru isn't even a bad player, it's unfair on him too.
City were class tonight. Must admit Sam bell had a fantastic game, don't know if it's because he's switched wings but he looked a totally different player. Having a slice of the old humble tonight. Cornick also looks a totally different player now, and James and Williams were quality. We restricted Saints to very few chances and we gave them little time or space on the ball. Got to say Tommy worked his bollux off, and always looked a threat. Biggest plus for me tonight was the way the lad Roberts slotted on a left back. He was immense. That defence was superb all night though, my MOTM was Dickie, but that was a quality team performance from start to finish. Best this season by far.
Wagner telling fans to stay at home during season ticket renewal season is an interesting strategy. Think he knows he's not going to be here next season so there's really no reason for him to build bridges.
Roberts and Tanner both very steady tonight I thought, Tanner especially looks more comfortable and like he has more direction and purpose in possession under Manning. Dickie and Vyner excellent, James and Williams good too.
Agreed, it was a fantastic team performance from start to finish. I think we've got one of the best defences in the league, if we can play like that then there won't be any problem scoring. After seeing that tonight I would have to say Southampton don't have anything like a Gnonto or Summerville to make something out of nothing. Leeds fans should be confident of the autos. Like you said though, full credit to Manning we made Southampton look a poorer team than they are. These last couple of game have been fantastic fair play.
Awful game last night. Couldn't keep hold of the ball. When we did get forward no final product. Dug in defensively but in all honesty Birmingham should have won by more than 1. Irony of the goal is that it looked very like the ball went out of play in the build up but we deserved nothing. 6 losses on the bounce away now. Plenty of work to do. The win v Stoke gave a little boost and breathing space but could have done with at least a draw last night. Birmingham had loads of chances and somehow missed some really good ones. Believe it's been a while since you won at home so you're welcome Nicked the pic from twitter, we seem to have a habit of a 1-0 defeat away midweek
Who is Southampton's game in hand against? I'd struggle to call it, but I do think you have a better team than them.
Nice one Bristol, Pearson’s old boys doing a favour for his older boys. It’s not over till the fat lady sings and there’s a long way to go yet, so I reckon it will remain tight at the top for awhile yet.
Last 6 games only Leeds returned more than you. Last 10 games, only top 3 and Coventry have. Think he's every right to have a pop.
I thought City were superb last night and well worth the win (if anything the one we got back flattered us), you could tell from the first 20mins you were bang up for it and we just seemed to have run out of steam a bit. Saying that I also think Martin got the team badly wrong, Charles just isn't the right player to bring in and Smallbone isn't a defensive midfielder, plus not having Downes was a massive, massive lose for us, hopefully he's back fit for West Brom because in my opinion we don't have any cover for him when he's out. In the grand scheme of things though i still think we'll have enough to get automatics, assuming we keep Downes fit anyway, and i'm actually not that worried about the game at Elland Road as we hammered Leeds last time we played them and their style plays right into our hands
That was close, but a win is a win.. Viktor Johansson has to be the best shot-stopper in the league. He's mental and it took a deflected cross-goal to beat him. Good to see new boy Noah Ohio get a goal.
Tough, tough game away tonight at Plymouth. I can't see us getting anything but hopeful for a point. There is a rumour going round that O'Hare might be injured. No one knows where it started and it could just be a case of say it enough times and it becomes the truth.
