That Josh Emmett vs. Brice Mitchell knockout was horrific. Looked like he had a seizure afterwards. Nasty. Emmett has to be p4p one of the hardest hitters in MMA history. Glad Leon beat that piece of shit Covington. Hope he gets fed to proper killers in the future. Sick of him and his cringe shit talking and gimmick.
Think Ferguson has to retire now surely. I predicted a win for him as I don’t rate paddy that highly and he lost. 7 losses in a row for a once great fighter. Nobody wants to see that.
Should have called it a day after the Chandler loss tbh. Tied BJ's losing streak now if I'm not mistaken.
Not a fan of Mitchell but never like to see that. Emmett is one of the biggest hitters p4p, and he put everything in to that over hand right and it couldn’t of landed in a better spot. There isn’t a FW on the roster that would’ve survived that. It was the perfect punch! as belal is gonna get the next shot, hopefully they match him up with shavkat. He probably won’t accept the fight, he’s been turning fights down for years yet still gets 3 title shots?? He’ll fight who he wants to fight no doubt
Just watched the bisping interview/documentary on TNT called ‘what went down’. this is an incredible story which most people aren’t fully aware of. He lost his sight in his right eye after the Belfort fight (Belfort was juicing at this time) and had to literally keep it a secret so he could continue his career. He literally gave up his title aspirations as how could he win the ufc title with one eye? Bearing in mind he just wouldn’t see certain attacks like roundhouse kicks or hooks until it’s hit him! He couldn’t see anything when rockhold landed the head kick on him as it was to his right side, and he had a cut bleeding in to his left eye. Completely visually impaired love him or loathe him this is a incredible and inspirational documentary. I highly recommend it to any mma fan. The only gripe I have is bisping constantly insisting that silva was still in his prime. Not that it matters, Mike beat him with only one eye
Any fans of ONE Championship in this thread? It's not quite got the same appeal in the west as UFC but it's great watching a promotion that showcases multiples different combat sports and all the events being free on YouTube is class.
i don’t watch it much mainly due to availability. I love Muay Thai as well though and I know Jon hagerty and Liam Harrison fight for the organisation. I definitely aim to watch it more going forward
Most recent one on YouTube is a Muay Thai only event staged before Xmas and it's a banger. I'm watching it right now and I'm on the penultimate fight of the main card and there's been a KO in every fight thus far. Great viewing.
Anyone watch strickland v du plessis? Close fight but deserved win for dricus I think. Although the strikes landed were pretty even I thought du plessis showed more variety and was the aggressor which must've swayed 2 of the judges. Strickland is very one dimensional and might as well be a boxer with his style. Still very good at that style and very tough but du plessis just has more strings to his bow. Probably a rematch in this one
been catching up with the fights throughout the day. This is the only 1 I haven’t watched yet. Even if it was razor close I can’t see a rematch next as neither guy is popular and Strickland only won the title recently. If chimaev fights and wins soon then he’ll probably get the next shot.
I'm only a casual so I'll trust what you're saying is probably right. Maybe chimaev against strickland first?
there’s not really many obvious challengers at MW. I’m not sure what’s going in with adesanya so I reckon chimaev will be next. Any fight with chimaev is gonna be a good fight tbh so I’ve no issue. Strickland could he back in contention in a couple of fights as the division just isn’t that deep at the moment
Ufc 300 this weekend and some great fights from top to bottom. I actually think the main card at 299 was better on paper but even the undercard this weekend has 2/3 unmissable fights. Figueiredo vs garbrandt is the first fight of the night ffs. 2 former champs, potentially a great fight, and not even on the undercard as far a I can see? Gonna be staying up for this one
Good card overall I thought. That Max finish was insane. 4-0 up and into the last 15 seconds and he tells Gaethje to stand and bang and knocks him out cold. Probably the most exciting finish in UFC history. Definitely up there with Kongo/Barry for crazy endings.
yeah gotta respect that. He gave gaethge a Hail Mary chance in the last 10 seconds and closed the show! Looking at the condition of turn at the end of the fight it was a pretty calculated risk. Would love to see max vs Dustin again. I’d Still pick poirier in that fight perreira pushing away herb Dan after eating a nuts shot, and knocking hill out a split second later was probably my highlight.
I was more interested in ufc over a decade ago when the likes of silva, liddell and later mcgregor were dominating and only a casual fan these days. Before the fights I was a little underwhelmed by the card because was hoping for some big title fights involving the dagestanis and maybe a mcgregor comeback but the top 2 fights were pretty impressive. Holloway is usually exciting and he didn't let us down and pereira is a big name nowadays and he proved why.
