The time has come for my trusty Astra 1.8i 16v to enter the world of scrappage, and I've given up looking for an equivalent in today's world of emasculated show ponies. I've (almost) decided on the following, despite the fact it's slower than a hedgehog pushing a piano uphill, so what do we think?
I'm inclined to agree, but I do so few miles (around 5,000 p.a.) that there's little point having anything decent rusting on the drive.
Is it the standard Corsa or the VXR? It says "VXR Styling kit" but it doesn't say it's the actual VXR model. If it's the VXR then it's not a girls car, and it'll be nippier than you described it above.
No, as it says it's the 1.4 16v, rather than the 1.6 16v. The VXR body kit just makes it a sheep in wolf's clothing.
I agree, but why the hell then, don't you buy a 5 year old motor with 35k on the clock and do your 5k. Cost you max, a grand and a half if you buy a good runner. Mitsubishi has no extras, for example. You're going to spend £8/9k plus your old car to travel no miles and in 5 years it will be worth £1.5k if you take care of it.... just buy the car that cost £1.5k. In my opinion. It is your money.
I wouldn't buy a wheelbarrow from Evans Halshaw if I were you, Stret. I used to work for them. Its part of Pendragon - group of grasping cr**ks with non existant aftersales service.
Depends, it's an SXi rather than SRi and could be a 1.2 rather than 1.4. I've had dealings with them via my company vehicle, and they are indeed charlatans of the highest order, and if I can possibly get a similar or better deal eslewhere I'll definitely avoid them.
You can get away with an Astra, but a Corsa is definatly a girls car. Go German, you won't regret it.
I've been out and looked at these (Corsas) today. I don't think I could live with one, so I've decided against spending £9,000 on a car I don't like. Back to the drawing board. I've booked a test drive in a '57 plate 3 door Astra 1.9 CDTi [150bhp] SRi on Monday, if it gets to the dealership by then.
I had a look at the Corsa before I bought my car. I didn't like the interior on it, so I avoided them. I'm happy with my little Renault.
I really like the look of these. Certainly a candidate for my next car in a few years. I will no doubt be going for something like this: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...price-to/6000/sort/pricedesc/page/1&logcode=p Any links or a photo?
