Yeah we're definitely not looking as good, but having Gudelj to come into central midfield should be a big help.
Still absolutely baffled as to why we haven't signed a left back. Coentrao came to us waiting for us to ask to sign him, but we never made contact and are going into the season with Jefferson as our starting left back while Fabio has gone to Rio Ave!! Ridiculous.

Yeah the game against Braga is a real test, we managed to draw with you guys which was a good result but Braga have obviously started the season well and look like a quality team.

Not sure what to make of Leao. As a player I'm very happy if he comes back, but there will be a lot of negativity towards him for leaving in the first place when he wasn't even at the training ground when the attack occurred last season.

It turns out Leao news of him leaving Lille were..... fake news ahah.

    Gudelj is a great signing

Looks like the police found who stole Benfica's private infos. Also, it is expected that FC Porto and Sporting may be involved with the hacker and a large sum will have to be paid to Benfica.

Just realised Portuguese league games are shown live free to air in the UK on Free Sports which is on Freeview, cable and satellite.

Watching tonight and find it amusing that Porto have a player called Jesus Corona which is ‘Jesus Crown’. Very biblical.

    Big matchday

Let's start with the big game of thye week here:

    Benfica 1-0 Porto

It wasn't the best of games, very clumsy, and somewhat badly played but with lots of aggressiveness. First half with both teams really tied up, a very close half with none of the teams getting the best on the other. Second half Benfica dominated and ended scoring with Seferovic and after that still dominated getting close to the 2-0 but Lema's red card made Benfica drop the lines and start to defend the 1 goal advantage with Porto not playing well but getting most chances out of free kicks and corners. Benfica survived those last minutes and won 3 important points sending the club back to the top of the league lost last week.

    Portimonense 4-2 Sporting CP

A very pleasent game from the red lanterns of the league, playing fluid football eye to eye with Sporting who never got to match Portimonense during this match despite conceding 2 goals which should've been enough most of the times but Sporting faced a very inspired Portimonense and a wonderful Nakajima who destroyed Sporting's defense Messi style, this Jap is a wonder to see. Sporting is having serious trouble imposing their game and Peseiro is under heavy fire.

Next matchday there is going to be Vitória SC vs. SC Braga. I invite people to see this game between the two most interesting coaches in the Portuguese League, both with pleasent possession football.

Thank god Peseiro has been sacked!

Looks like we’re after Jardim, JJ or Paulo Sousa

In all honesty, for us to only be 2 points off the top at this stage is a minor miracle. We've been playing some terrible football but we are still right up there. I don't expect us to win anything this season and this new reported head coach is a bit of a mystery, but if you'd have told us before the start of the season that we'd be 3rd and two points behind Porto I would have absolutely taken that

Benfica went from beating Porto to reach the top to fifth place. Looks like Rui Vitória is getting sacked soon, Jorge Jesus is in talks to come back in January. It's about time.

Wouldn't be my first choice, JJ's departure from Benfica in 2015 wasn't pretty and the fans don't exactly like him. I'm a big fan of his, he is an amazing coach and he shouldn't have left Benfica. My first choice would be Paulo Fonseca or Abel, I think Benfica needs to reivent. New blood.

Yeah that’s what I thought, I wouldn’t agree that he’s an amazing coach though. I think he’s very good and his time here was under difficult circumstances in the end and he was unlucky not to win the league when we finished second with a points total that woild notmally guarantee the title.

But his tactical decisions did leave a lot to be desired at times, would be a sensible appointment to steady the ship, but might struggle with the fan backlash.

I think Fonseca should go for it

It says a lot when you’re being linked with names like that and all we’ve got is Kaizer and Karanka!

I'm going to give out an inside. Sporting's president contacted Leonardo Jardim with who he maintains a long friendship but he rejected the offer, he's aiming at the Premier League. He also talked with Silas, from Belenenses (interesting but very risky) my opinion is, he shouldn't have sacked Peseiro without having a name already on stand by. Yeah, those are names that do not give up many hopes up. Sporting should look to Miguel Cardoso or Luis Castro. Let's see if Tiago Fernandes does well against Arsenal, who knows...

Yeah I know we contacted Jardim but he was never ever going to come back, I don’t see why people thought that was realistic
