In his own words "I'm here to say goodbye - maybe not goodbye but farewell"

    Rest In Peace.

R.I.P. A true gent. Some of today's managers should take a look at his attitude towards the game.

Never heard a bad word said about Sir Bobby, a remarkable man who is a great loss to the cynical world of football.

    Rest In Peace.

This is incredible, he's one of the few people involved in football (i'm actually struggling to think of anyone else) who is liked by everyone involved in the sport. Surely even Norwich and Sunderland fans can't hold anything against him?

    Legend.

Very shocking news and was unexpected. He was only at the game last sunday! A legend of a man and England has lost one of it's greats.

Even to the end he was close to football as he had a charity match for his charity played on Sunday involving the likes of Alan Shearer. One of football's great men, a honest man who did it for the enjoyment, not for the money. A lot of today's crop could learn a lot from him and the respect he gained. Most football fans will have a tear in their eye as they hear this today.

    RIP Sir Bobby

What a guy, one of the true gentlemen of football. In my opinion the last good Newcastle manager and the last great English manager of the national team. He is a great loss to the footballing world

Tragic battle over the years with a horrible illness. Thoughts are with his family.

A true true legend. I'll never ever forget the memories of Italia 90 for me one of the best World Cups ever. I just so wish Bobby could have beaten those Germans.
He looked so ill on Sunday but it was a credit to the man that he still went out to say farewell to all of those fans and to St James Park.
