Mmm, forgot to post in here.

A sad day indeed. I never got to know him but that World Cup in 1990 was just...magical.

RIP Sir Bobby Robson, a true football legend, a true gentleman and a nice and courageous person! :(

  6. Just to add to the quotes already posted in this thread, here's Martin O'Neill's contribution:

    "He'll be badly missed."

"He was held in very high regard by the players. They forgave all his eccentricities - it was legendary that he didn't know anyone's name.

"He had a fantastic career. Early on in the managerial stakes he had fights. Fulham got rid of him and then he went to Ipswich.

"He signed Frans Thijssen and Arnold Muhren, who were fantastic players.

"Thijssen was my kind of player because he dribbled everywhere. He signed proper players and made Ipswich a proper side.

"Then he went to have the time with England, went abroad, furthered his education at places like Barcelona.

"He will be badly missed. I hear there was a massive turn out for the game last week and I'm sure it was down to Bobby Robson.

"And when you think in his last days at Newcastle, they thought it was failure because he finished fifth."

I've been away for the weekend and only just found out the terrible news...

He really was a true gentleman of football and no doubt will be sorely missed by everyone in the football community.

R.I.P. Bobby. Gone but never forgotten.

The funeral of former England manager Sir Bobby Robson has been held at a private family service.

Sir Bobby, who died on Friday aged 76 following a long battle against cancer, was buried on Wednesday in an unnamed location in the North East of England.

Sir Bobby's agent said arrangements for a thanksgiving service in celebration of his life would be announced soon. His widow Lady Elsie is said to have been overwhelmed by the thousands of tributes to her husband.

Over the weekend, fans at matches paid tribute to the former Ipswich and Newcastle manager.

The tributes included a shrine at Newcastle's St James' Park, which Sir Bobby's family visited on Sunday.
