Mmm, forgot to post in here. A sad day indeed. I never got to know him but that World Cup in 1990 was just...magical. RIP Sir Bobby Robson, a true football legend, a true gentleman and a nice and courageous person!
What a gentleman he was, great manager knew how to get the best out of his players and wasnt scared to make tough decisions. one of the few who is liked by nearly all football fans and will be missed by everyone, gone but not forgotten RIP SIR BOBBY
Just to add to the quotes already posted in this thread, here's Martin O'Neill's contribution: "He'll be badly missed." "He was held in very high regard by the players. They forgave all his eccentricities - it was legendary that he didn't know anyone's name. "He had a fantastic career. Early on in the managerial stakes he had fights. Fulham got rid of him and then he went to Ipswich. "He signed Frans Thijssen and Arnold Muhren, who were fantastic players. "Thijssen was my kind of player because he dribbled everywhere. He signed proper players and made Ipswich a proper side. "Then he went to have the time with England, went abroad, furthered his education at places like Barcelona. "He will be badly missed. I hear there was a massive turn out for the game last week and I'm sure it was down to Bobby Robson. "And when you think in his last days at Newcastle, they thought it was failure because he finished fifth."
I've been away for the weekend and only just found out the terrible news... He really was a true gentleman of football and no doubt will be sorely missed by everyone in the football community. R.I.P. Bobby. Gone but never forgotten.
