Scunthorpe United can confirm its retained list following the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign. A total of nine players will be leaving the club when their contracts expire this summer. OFFERED NEW CONTRACT AND CURRENTLY NEGOTIATING... Ross Barrows, Alfie Beestin, Andrew Boyce, Jacob Butterfield, Tyler Denton, Danny Elliott, Will Evans, Reagan Ogle, Fin Shrimpton OPTION ACTIVATED... Kian Scales LEAVING THE CLUB... Richie Bennett, Marcus Carver, Joe Leesley, Liam McAlinden, Harrison Poulter, Tom Pugh, Josh Robertson, Dion Sembie-Ferris, Cameron Wilson LOAN PLAYERS RETURNED TO PARENT CLUBS... Flynn Clarke, Kai Corbett, Daniel Langley UNDER CONTRACT... Michael Clunan, Ross Fitzsimons, Michael Kelly, Maxim Kouogun, Jason Law, Callum Roberts, Danny Whitehall Surprised we are engaging with so many players, not sure how many will accept a smaller wage considering the options they will have. Will Evans and Reagan Ogle are far too good for our level, there will be interest from NL sides for sure for those two. Butterfield was the best player in the NLN last year so getting him signed up again would be huge. Not arsed about anyone leaving except Dion Sembie Ferris, would have loved to have kept him but he wants to move closer to home.
Could see us being in for Ogle, assuming Golden leaves. Elliott was rumoured to have almost joined us when he went to Boreham Wood from Boston.
Disagree with that last statement personally, never had any concerns from free kicks and corners coming into the box. Might be one that York go for after the blinder he had up there.
Could see Elliott happening, he’s stuck as backup here but has a good goal record considering he’s normally coming off the bench. I like him but he’s not as good as Whitehall so might want to leave to start somewhere else
Sorry, he has masses of qualities, but being good in the air and commanding his box, isn’t the one of them. The biscuits wrists comment rings true as well.
We always played one up front last year and he struggled whenever he started, looked really good coming off the bench though when joining Whitehall in a two He might do better if he plays along someone all the time but nothing last year showed me he was that great really.
This isn’t officially confirmed, but going off snippets, this is our current situation: (Halifax) Under Contract: Sam Johnson Adam Senior Kane Thompson-Sommers Florent Hoti Aaron Cosgrave Jimiel Chikukwa (youngster) Andrew Oluwabori Frankie Sinfield (youngster) Ted Lavelle (youngster) Adan George Jack Jenkins Options Activated: Ryan Galvin Jo Cummings Festus Arthur Jack Evans Max Wright Transfer Listed: Justin Iwobi (youngster who hasn’t kicked in as hoped) Out of contract & in discussions: Tylor Golden Jamie Stott Angelo Cappello Jack Hunter Jamie Cooke Jordan Keane Released: Luke Summerfield Rob Harker Tom Wilson Tom Scott Think we’ve a decent base so far. Resigned to losing Golden and Stott so we could do with a good RB and left sided CB. We could do with a striker and centre mid to replace Harker and Summerfield too. Hopefully Cooke and Hunter stay as squad players. Not bothered in the slightest about Cappello or Keane as I think we can improve on them both.
Here's ours: UNDER CONTRACT Jacob Hazel NEW CONTRACT TRIGGERED Michael Bostwick CONTRACT OPTION ACTIVATED Keaton Ward U24 PLAYERS OFFERED TERMS OF RE-ENGAGEMENT Dylan Hill Jimmy Knowles Tom Leak Jai Rowe OFFERS MADE Cameron Gregory Jake Lovelace Zak Mills Kelsey Mooney Brad Nicholson Jordan Richards Martin Woods RELEASED Michael Gyasi Keziah Martin Ethan Sephton Sam Smart LOAN PLAYERS RETURNING TO PARENT CLUB Deji Sotona This squad finished 6th in a poor National League North last season. I'm not surprised by those released but I am a bit by some of the offers made, particularly Leak, Mooney and Nicholson.
David Ferguson signs new 1 year deal Not thrilled but he won't be on big money. Definitely still need another LB though, he isn't up to it defensively.
I'd of rather he left but who'd have him, was one of the worst performers last season, sick of this loves the club crap people knock out for keeping less than mediocre players around the place.
I'm already buzzing about meeting him for a third time to have the same fvcking conversation again He's been gash for seasons but the club rewards mediocrity like no other. He'll be cheap and that's how we roll.

What’s a realistic expectation for you lot next year? Reckon you’ve got a chance at surviving? Seems like there’s not a lot of basket case clubs this season and think it’ll be another 50+ points tally to survive
