No matter what you say to your team at half time, what can you do when a Sevilla supporting bellend gifts them their equalizer seconds into the second half. Your whole gameplan is gone in seconds. Don't concede that first there and the game would have been totally different, the second that goal went in I knew we'd collapse.
I'll give you that, but the tide was turning and he did nothing about it. I do think he is a very good manager, I do think you will improve under him and all that. But you can't deny he has been shocking in finals and his in game strategy at times is seriously lacking.
Manager in not being perfect shocker. I agree he took too long to react to Emery's change of tactics but the failing is on certain individuals after that. Whilst we've got nothing to show for it, we've still got to 2 finals under him. There's progress there.
Scousers have a boom or bust team. When it's flowing it's liquid , hence the media wank themeslf into oblivion and everyone has to have it forced down their throat. But there is no consistency there, it's just odd watching it. He definitely has you punching though, state of that team. Let him gut it and rebuild how he wants to and then heads will turn.
Without a doubt, we're just about the most consistently inconsistent team around, we have been for a few years. When we're good we're very good, when we're poor we're abysmal.
At the end of the day, Klopp is a great manager, but he can't change everything. Moreno will never make a good left back. Milner will never be a good passer. & Mignolet will never be good enough for us. Karius is an excellent GK incoming from Mainz. But we desperately need a new left back & a playmaker as well.
Ah well, you win some you lose some. Not going to have a go at the ref, it wasn't the ref who let them stick 3 past us. It was just a shocking 2nd half all round & it's quite worrying how this current crop of players only seem to manage 45 minutes of decent football. Still, the future's bright & it'll be interesting to see where we're at next season with no midweek games & some Klopp signings.
We have no choice now but to trim the squad, which isn't a bad thing. I could see up to 10 of the current squad leaving in the summer.
Poor second half. I have to agree, Klopp left it too late to change it. Sevilla were bossing it and Klopp didn't react to it quickly enough. Can't remember the three handballs and didn't see replays, only one I remember was 50/50. Seen them given but I don't think it was deliberate. Offside was Sturridge's fault and I don't think he got much wrong beyond that. A little lenient with some of the fouls, could have maybe given more yellows but officiated the occasion. If Lovren's goal stands I think that's game over. Liverpool really have themselves to blame. Reminds me very much of the year Sevilla knocked us out of the UEFA Cup. Officiating went against us and we shot ourseles in the foot too. I didn't think they were a superior side to us at that time and I wouldn't say they're a superior side to Liverpool now but you can't knock their European record. Great achievement and on a selfish note a better away day for our Champions League campaign next season!
Alot of loans as well, Ibe will be loaned out IMO, as well as a few others. Free transfer for Moreno.
Be interesting to see how things go next season. People criticised us for throwing the Europa League and pinning our hopes on the league - Liverpool did the opposite and now have nothing to show for it. An 8th place finish and no trophies. The one consolation is that it will be Klopp's first full season at the club and they'll have no European distraction next season so you wouldn't bet against them having a really good season next year. The league is really wide open at the minute so if Klopp can bring in the right personnel it could be a pretty good season next time round.
Smoke a weed? Why? Quality looking side, won the Europa 5 times in the last 11 years, in the Copa Del Rey final...they're an inspiration to middling clubs everywhere. Stolen from Saintsweb:
We handed them the initiative and they took it, fair play to them. It isn't all morenos fault as some might say but he has to be one of the dumbest footballers I've seen in a red shirt. I hate losing finals but just like the league cup defeat I was over it in 30 mins and already looking forward to Klopps 1st full season, the euros, the Olympics and palace lifting the fa cup.
What a shame, imagine only appearing in the champions league and two cup finals. Just imagine how much better it'd have been to get knocked out of the qualifying rounds of the EL By a club less than 15 years old.
