Have Southampton really put that money to good use? What have they actually achieved? You've won an extra 3 points over last season. When's the open bus parade?

At least we've got to finals and challenged for trophies.

Again, Liverpool fans focussing on the past ;)
Looking to next season...we're in europe and you're not. We're a top 6 side and you're not.
Maybe we should raid you for a change.

I haven't actually paid in about 4 years but due to some glitch from when I used to be a mod my membership keeps renewing anyway. I don't post on there anywhere near as much as I used to, some right bellends on there now. Imagine a gaggle of Superyids and that's what you got.

Tbf Southampton seem the better club currently. Liverpool only really have the potential of Klopp and theres no certaintanty he will deliver. Plus they owe that final appearamce to Dortmund getting complacent for 45 mins.

You are Liverpool fc. A huge club that SHOULD be challenging for trophies. We are little old southampton that you poached 4 players from and managed to then finish below us. Well done.

So you only won the title because teams were complacent against you?

Is that 5 finals on the bounce that Klopp has lost (including 2 in 12 weeks ) ?

    Yes. Won 1 (5-2 v Bayern in 2012), lost 5 (2 times v Bayern, 1 v Wolfsburg, 1 v City and 1 v Sevilla).

That's like saying Leicester only won the league because the big Premier League clubs got complacent. I'm surprised at you for trying to diminish an under dog victory.

As for your first statement, no player would go to Southampton over us, European football or not. & there's no way Southampton will finish higher next season without the Europa League games to affect our league form with rotation & fatigue (last time we were able to play our strongest XI every week we were 1 win away from the title). No team in the world played as many games as us this season, it has an affect.

I have alot of respect for Southampton, they're a brilliantly run club who can come back from losing key players & have a great youth & scouting set up. What they've achieved in recent years has been exceptional, yes they're not exactly poor but the have been punching above their weight consistently. It's a very exciting time for their fans to be in Europe after League 1 not very long ago & I wish them well in it next season.

But make no mistake we're going places under Klopp, only really having the potential of Klopp? I'll take that. 'Only'? He got an average side to the Europa & League Cup final without any new signings. A side that got Rodgers sacked because the squad was unbalanced & the team was lacking in confidence, with no preseason & coming in to put out fires with game after game coming thick & fast & an injury crisis (Caulker ffs). The belief is back this season & we've been able to crush several teams without Suarez, clear signs of progress. & he's improved struggling players, basically all the flops who were redeemable have been. So I've got total faith in the guy.
I'd prefer to focus on that! 5-2 wow. ;)

Its always the same with us, we played United off the field, but it was only because they were shite :rolleyes
We destroyed Dortmund at Anfield with a devastating comeback, totally deserved to go through after being the best side over 180 minutes, but it was because they got complacent :rolleyes
Ok Richie, Dortmund only got the early 2-0 lead because we were complacent in the first half having gotten a decent result in Dortmund, right? We only lost last night because we got complacent after dominating the first half? Right?
We destroyed a tidy Villareal side, but apparently that was because they're not really that good, despite them being "best of the rest" in the absolute strongest league in the world :rolleyes

Yet apparently Southampton are the dogs bollocks because they were handed a place above us as we spent the last month concentrating on the Europa League.

In hindsight, we may have been better off being knocked out earlier, had we done so we'd have probably gained an extra 6-8 points....to think Spurs only finished 10 ahead of us you get my drift...we threw away winnign leads 3 or 4 times since Christmas, absolute cruising games (Southampton, Newcastle, Sunderland, etc) so in truth, we only lost a CL place because we were...complacent?

yep & I suppose we got complacent when Southampton came back & beat us 3-2 then, such was our dominance first half? Oh what a convenient thing we can say. All our defeats were down to us getting complacent, this is brilliant. We woulda beaten Sevilla if we never got complacent after dominating them first half. We woulda won the league if we never got complacent against Chelsea & Palace because we were on a winning streak & were top of the table. Oooh I like this BS.

Was in a funny situation last night of wanting Liverpool to win, i think a lot of Saints fans forget that a liverpool victory would've helped our coefficient. That said schadenfreude towards Lallana and Lovern was a beautiful thing, especially Lovern's tears at the end.

On another note i do tend to agree with the Scousers here that without EL they'd have finished above us, but then i remember thinking mid season neither of us would get Europe.

Fully expect Klopp to do a rebuilding job next season and without any Europe to be pushing around the last Champions League place. I guess the biggest issue he has now is convincing players to come to a side that doesn't have European football.

If West Ham get it - as a result of Manchester United winning the cup - i think you'll see they compete with Liverpool for the bracket of players that they're after which could make it very tough. Obviously Liverpool have the history, but i don't think that counts for much without European football, and especially when you see the sums that West Ham are banding about.

Hopefully next season will see Lallana shipped out and i might even get back to not wanting them to lose (i can't ever say i want them to win) in Europe again the season after.
