Just read scunny's profile posts Had to laugh but then I realised something: Tomorrow could be Joachim Löw's last match as Bundestrainer if we lose against England. Before I joined the forum on July 21st 2016, Football Germany's world was in order (in Ordnung! ). My HSV was still the Dino of the Bundesliga, the longest consecutive streak in the first tier of all clubs in Germany. Our National-Mannschaft was still World Champion and just reached the semi-final of the Euro 2016 where we lost unfortunately against France and we had reached the semi-finals of the World Cup or Euro all the time since Löw took over in 2006 (in 2008 and 2014 we reached even the finals of the Euro (lost) and World Cup (won)). Then I made the (fatal?) decision to join ff and bit by bit everything went to shit (that rhymes ) First my HSV was relegated for the first time ever in 2017/18 (and still hasn't come back yet) and then we had our worst ever World Cup 2018 with the exit in the group stages. Later that year we even were relegated from the Nations League (could only avoid it eventually because UEFA blowed the A League up). So if we really lose tomorrow in Wembley against England (where we haven't lost for the last 7 matches) I really worry that as long as I stay here my football world will be shattered constantly? Maybe I really should piss off then Should I stay or should I go?
Stay. You’re an intensely likeable man. The fact it’s turned shit from a football perspective is a mere bonus
You're going nowhere. @scunnymadandy will be gone long before you can be even contemplating an escape from this forum
Over the years I've seen some absolutely cracking excuses from supporters as to why their teams and/or managers have failed, but yours takes the chocolate digestive @Dirk! I'm afraid we can't allow you to leave as you're one of our few sensible members . . .
It's the only explanation that makes sense, though btw: just have to look up "chocolate digestive" in an online dictionary You already had me with "young man"
Its clearly the English disease - Not Hooligans but successfully failing and letting you down Stay exactly where you are @Dirk - Great to have opinions from across europe, especially during an international competition. Except tomorrow - tomorrow you can do one.......
It's just not a prospect worth digesting. Seeing a valued member being escorted out just because of an International March. I can't invest enough time to work this scenario out and seeing someone leave. For that reason, I'm out.
It must be this forum @Dirk Spurs last won a trophy in Feb 2008, two months before I joined this forum. Nothing since
thanks for proving my point I found scunny's profile posts funny tbh but it made me think about the whole "scenario" what happens if we really lose against England (as highly unlikely it is )
Was???? You're staying put HSV boy! Yourself, Oli and I have too much to discuss in the Buli thread for you to piss off to some place else.
Let's wait and see what happens today. Maybe the "Football God" has an understanding in my situation and gives me some signs of hope that not everything turns to shit with Germany's football since I joined FF Otherwise...can't you see it already happens with you, too? PSG just didn't win the Ligue 1 (and lost the CL final and last season didn't even go that far...ok that's normal for them in the CL, has nothing to do with you being here ) And yesterday, France went out against the mighty Swiss...for the first time since 2010 in a tournament so early. I'll go back to 1FF again if we won't win today.
We're having a German love-in on the other other place - German music all day and a game listing German heroes. I got Germany in the sweepstake and Monkey got England.
Wow. Nena That's a blast from the past. NDW, Neue Deutsche Welle. I was just in the Bundeswehr (Army) when this came out in 1983 and everyone had a soft spot for her. She's still looking hot today, with 61 NENA.de | Offizielle Website Schöne Grüße an alle / Greetings to all
Sorry Dirk, neither you nor Uns Uwe made the list. Clearly some of us still find it difficult to stick with, "Don't mention the war." German Heroes: 1) Oskar Schindler 2) Baron von Richthofen 3) Franz Beckenbauer 4) Kurt Siegfried Schrader 5) Johann Wolfgang von Goethe 6) Anne Frank 7) Ludwig van Beethoven 8) Walther Wenck 9) Konrad Adenauer 10) Freddy Frinton/James the Butler 11) Ernst Jünger 12) Lt. Friedrich Lengfeld 13) Beowulf
Deeply disappointed that "Uns Uwe" isn't mentioned. And I thought I've done enough here to plant his name into the tiny brains of you guys (yes, I know it's "the other forum" but they're all exiled from here). So sad. Yes, I see when reading the names of Baron von Richthofen, Kurt Siegfried Schrader, Walther Wenck, Lt. Friedrich Lengfeld. WWI and WWII Offiziere Is, by any chance, zippy a member over there? It's very suspicious that so many Wehrmacht and SS Officers are mentioned in your German "Heroes" list And no one mentioned Albert Einstein or Max Planck? As Physicist and Engineer, that disappoints me, too. And Freddie Frinton? He's English. Bet it was johnny's vote, right? At least you have Beethoven on the list. That's an Ode to joy to hear.
I'm also surprised that Einstein missed out, along with Mutti. The surprising devotee of the Wehrmacht was @Canary Fairy . Zippy wouldn't find anything of interest over there. I tried not to dominate with my nominations (no vote) but Freddy was mine - As a "hero in Germany," he won out over Donald Duck and Hauptmann Deutschland. Anne Frank was my effort to get some female recognition - she just won out over Rosa Luxemburg.
