That second set was mental, one hour and 44 minutes. That's a Ladies' three set final that..

Probably the end of her career at 31 then unless she appeals and wins ?

After being banned from Australia and America last year, this year he returned to win in Adelaide, Melbourne, Cincinnati and New York.

His combined win-loss record at those four events? A marvelously coincidental 24-0.

Sometimes things are just meant to be. And the wins turned out even sweeter this way, after the biggest prior knockdown he experienced. The GOAT of all GOATs.

Youngsters have been knocking on the door here and there but it looks like they will have to go a step further. Grandpa is not in a charitable mood just yet. Record breaking 7th Year End Championship for Djokovic yesterday after demolition jobs against Alcaraz and Sinner. Since the Wimbledon final defeat, he's won every event he entered. 8th YE #1 sealed and today is his 400th week on top, as he will play the Davis Cup.

Yep they just aren’t up to it yet. Sad thing for neutrals though is that this will probably kill the men’s game for the next few years and make it a Djokovic borefest in the same way what Verstappen is doing to F1. Not Djokovic’s fault - he has just set a standard that is so high nobody else can reach it.

I am actually going to watch him play in January. Serbia are playing in the United Cup here. Despite my criticisms of him over the last few years the chance to see the GOAT of tennis play live wasn’t something I was going to miss.

Nadal out of the Aussie Open.

Wonder how long he will keep going on now?

He has already said this is his last year. Doesn’t sound too serious so maybe he will be fit for Paris?

Not watched any of his match today but maybe it is time for Murray to hang up his racket and look back on a great career?

As soon as he lost his serve in the second set he started limping. It's a sad way to end his career after the brilliant farewell he received all those years ago but surely that was the last time he'll play a slam?

I've taken the day off on Thursday to go to the Rod Laver for the afternoon shift. Cracking day out..

Murray to quit after Wimbledon although he won’t want too much fanfare ?

Nice! Suppose it is too soon to know who will be on RLA when you go?

Didn’t reply but was fantastic to see Djokovic live at the United Cup a couple of weeks ago. You know he is good but when you see him live you realise how good he is. Don’t want him to win the AO but that is nothing against him and more the fact I am finding it boring him winning it all the time. Up to the other guys to show they are up to taking his crown which I don’t think they are tbh.

Pot luck unfortunately. They'll be mixed doubles on the outer courts which might be worth a watch for a while but no idea who will be playing the RLA until probably wednesday. Funny to think that putting the seats back in at the Rod Laver after a Def Leppard gig was one of my first jobs when I got to Melbourne, that was one hell of an introduction to living in this city..

Not sure what the forecast is for today but right now it's absolutely pissing down in Melbourne. Might need a snorkel and mask for the outer courts..

Schedule has just been released for tomorrow and I've struck gold. First up is the women's number one seed, Iga Swiatek followed by Carlos Alcaraz.
