Yes but Tory voters will be guilty of apathy too. There's been examples of this in recent byelections. The Tory vote collapses, but the other party gains aren't by much. So Tory voters are just deserting them and staying home.
Today’s decision isn’t surprising as most constitutional experts said it had no chance from the off. The question of presidential immunity is a whole different kettle of fish and I think even with the republican majority the Supreme Court would have to think very carefully about setting such a dangerous precedent. Hopefully they worst they’ll do is be willing to stretch the decision out to waste some time. However America is such a bat shit crazy country you probably can’t rule anything out.
Nikki Haley finally registered a primary win, winning DC's GOP primaries with 1200 to 600 votes. That's right, only 1800 people out of DC's 600,000 are Republicans. DC's the bluest of blue places (no, not in that sense, believe me this place is the complete opposite of that ), so its not going to make a difference ultimately.
Even after winning in the great state of Vermont, she's dropped out of the race. It's gonna be a rematch from 2020... great.
I just couldn't believe she stayed in the race this long as she has in effect ended her career. I don't think staying in has improved her reputation. if she did real well (apparently she did) in all the debates then dropped out with de santis then she might be seen as someone for next time out.
Needed more time to fill the chapter quota in the book she's definitely currently getting ghostwritten. I'm anticipating a podcast announcement soon too.
For those of us who are under the age of 70, we'll learn how the process of transferring power to the VP works when the president dies in office, so there is that at least.
Yeah, but it won't be the good kind where it's sudden and shocking. It'll be a tediously drawn out saga where power changes as quickly as it takes Biden to wipe his own arse. As always, learning isn't fun.
we've all seen it in the white house down movies or what have you. the movies were more realistic than current us politics. I could believe channing tatum shooting the he'll out of the Whitehouse and burning it down etc more than anything that happens under trump or biden
From Nate Silver's analysis of the exit polls: Would be interesting how the moderate/liberal block of the GOP ends up voting. Even more interesting: So it would be the big question of whether the 2020 aftermath will have an effect on these voters to end up choosing Biden or a third party candidate like RFK, or if they stick to party lines and go with Trump anyway.
