This is just another Tory tax, yet another opportunity to fleece those who are trying to make a living to add to the UKs highest tax burden for 70 years.

The government said: “The charge is designed to recover the costs of operating our world-class border facilities where essential biosecurity checks will protect our food supply, farmers and environment against costly disease outbreaks entering the UK through the short straits.

“The charges follow extensive consultation with industry and a cap has been set specifically to help smaller businesses. We are committed to supporting businesses of all sizes and across all sectors as they adapt to new border checks and maintaining the smooth flow of imported goods.”

‘Our profits could disappear’: small UK businesses hit out at new import fees

Where is all this tax going? Public services on their knees, the whole country being run down by a lame duck government that knows its time is up.

You do know that luxury yachts for the likes of Michelle Mone don't just magically appear all by themselves?

Who would've thought that a Tory led Brexit would leave the working class eating shit?

I love how they dressed it up as if the lower standards they want are not the issue but the eu (shorter straight) must be dirty and nasty despite having massively higher standards set and will continue in future.

It's such an elephant in the room right now. The Tory chancellor trying to figure out how to help improve the economy but cannot bring himself to just say "look we need to re-align with our biggest and closest trading partner". The pound would strengthen, goods would become cheaper.

He'd be flogged in the Tory backrooms.

You kidding? They're moving on to removing us from the ECHR now. Apparently, if we give even more away, then we'll finally get everything promised in return. Only requires our fundamental rights to be surrendered this time.

That's good then, we can bring back public floggings to be much more aligned with the Victorian era that Tories seem to love so much

That damn ECHR that we created and we nominate judges to getting in the way of us reopening poor houses and sending those lazy kids to work.
