Slightly annoying that it's happened just after the window shut as he'd have been really useful to have this season (I guess it's a result of the agent issues @Jonny Ninja mentioned). As mentioned before, we're getting him from the same club we picked up adingra from but at thrice the price. Makes it a fairly exciting buy as we must think he looks pretty special
I hadn't realised how shite, until I just read that he ended up on the wrong side of a 5-0 defeat in his debuts for both Saints and Blades this season.
Just seen a bunch of stories come out about Barcelona being interested in mitoma, with many suggesting fati as a part exchange (the above being one example). I wouldn't mind keeping fati, but realistically there's no chance it could happen. He'd need to accept a 60% wage cut just to bring him in line with our top earners, and given what he's shown so far and his injury history he probably isn't worth top of the squad wages. A 75% cut (to bring him in line with the likes of Joao Pedro and march) would be more in keeping with our wage structure, and that's even less likely to be accepted
They’re probably in a position where, because they’ve spent and amortised so much, they’ll have to make decent sales each year to keep up with what they spent so far. They did well getting the fees they did for him I think, but short term obviously hurts them.
Tosin Adarabioyo to West Ham (probably because he's on a free). Shame for them Liverpool, Tottenham & Milan are also in the que for a freebie. It seems every time we come to play West Ham United Handball Club the friendly Irons media come out in full force about them wanting to buy our players or nick our manager. First it was Palhinha, then Marco Silva, now Tosin.
Newcastle set to sign Lloyd Kelly 'free' at the end of his contract by the sounds of it. Howe coming back for one of his signings here. Hybrid LB / CB in the same mold as Dan Burn. We never have figured out which is Kelly's best position. And that flexibility has meant he's never been fixed as first choice in either, often theoretically bench if everyone is fit, floated between the roles depending on injuries. 5 decent years here but never hit the heights of his potential. He has all the raw ingredients to be a top player, but always has a moment of madness mistake in him. Those mistakes have meant the crowd can get nervy when he has too much time to think on the ball, something he's mentioned before in the media. I'm not sure 50,000 screaming Geordies will be any kinder to him than our, errr, vociferous home crowd. But it should be solid if unspectacular business for Newcastle
Never really seen the fuss, but he’s always been linked with bigger moves. Always felt like an overactive agent than lots of the bigger clubs actually scrambling for him. Probably decent business on a free but unlikely to help them progress much.
For me thats a risky move for him. (I was never thinking this lad rumours to go to LFC were rela btw) Newcastle have bought lewis hall for what 30mil or will do so where does he think he will play? I'm sure newcastle will be happy to throw another squad player there but will he be first second or third choice? Maybe newcastle will go 3 at back. maybe not.
Saw that this morning. Would be a bit of a weird one considering we have Doucoure, Lerma, Wharton and a revitalised Hughes in midfield already, unless we're planning on deploying Lerma as a CB in the long term. Decent enough player though so wouldn't be against it.
Where would he fit though? He's been playing as an 8 for us for the most part and whilst he's done well enough at this level he's not a prem 8, so that means putting him back to a disruptive DM, which you don't use do you?
I think he'll end up staying with us, as soon as we are promoted we can ignore the EFL embargo and sign him to an extension
Suppose it depends on the wage he's on. We've got cloth to trim. And Sensi probably still coming in on a free to push Wilf out the side.
