Why? It's a perfectly valid observation backed up by non-Breitbart or reactionary 'alternative media' sources and politically neutral statistics. In the late 1970s and early 1980s Sweden had an almost perfectly economically and socially equal society that was one of the the healthiest, least divided and safest countries in the world. But then that was when they had an entirely homogeneous country largely all reading from the same sheet. Then they decided even more social liberalism and multiculturalism and open door immigration policy was a great extension of their traditional values of equality, openess and tolerance.

Now look at them: population demographics projected to be 30% non-Swedish by 2020, currently the rape capital of Europe in crime statistics, gang crime and no-go zones for police in major cities, serious segregation problems in the same cities, problems with home-grown and exported Islamic terrorism, an overburdened welfare state being ruined by supporting migrants and close to bankrupting the government, falling all over the board in rankings of education levels, living standards and economic equality. They ruined a country as close to perfect as it has historically gotten with naive radical social liberalism, open door migration and multiculturalism. Now Germany and Canada are firmly on the same path because of the same sort of policies their leadership is and has pushed.

Someday I suspect history will look back on the decline of Sweden as a 'never again' moment in Western history.

Meanwhile Canada is the fastest growing economy in the G7. If this was a race to the bottom, then they are doing a bad job at sucking.

Also, the last time Canada was ravaged and ruined with migrants was when the Europeans came in and destroyed the native populations.

If anything this might improve their ranking taking away the distractions and pointless barely academic courses that encourage and fill students heads with disruptive behaviour masked as 'activism', victim mentalities and biased teaching. Removing identity politics and pointless courses like gender studies from the classroom and the campus alike in Arizona is a step forward, regardless of the implications of for free speech, it's time to shut them down and put the radical liberals out of a job because nothing else is working at breaking their infrastructure.

Arizona is hardly the poster boy of anything good other than the lovely landscape in Sedona.

Absolutely pro-free speech except when he's not which is every other thread these days. One such example in a response to me a couple of months ago.

That line was obviously drawn in pencil. Bacchus is very Trumpian these days, it's a matter of 15 seconds work to find a very recent example of completely contradictory statements.

That wouldn't work though because sooner or later they'd turn on everyone else who doesn't agree with them, using fascism as a tool to get rid of them is as short-sighted as letting identity politics out the lamp was in the first place.

Once the identity politics extremists and leftists are gone they'd just turn on the libertarians, classical liberals and mainstream conservatives as any sort of supremacist group does once it's main enemies are gone. You get something like ISIS who attack other jihadist groups for not being radical enough.

Because I just can't see a way round them without resorting to calls for violent suppression other than just ban them and dismantle the entire infrastructure of beliefs that lets them get to that stage, especially after the last two months or so. They've built ideologies of victimhood and self-reinforcing ideas that are almost impossible to break down without just banning them outright and dismantling their culture and belief system entirely.

When people protest against them they label them whatever buzzword fits and try and shut down their activities or target their means of income or funding. When people speak out against them they dig around for anything to dismiss it as like 'privilege' or 'whiteness' and try to gag them wherever possible. When you elect people who oppose them they refuse to accept them and do whatever they can to undermine them. Then they fill whatever bits of culture they influence with their message and try and indoctrinate the young by targetting them.

There just isn't a way to stop this other than entirely ban their ideologies in stages and dismantle their belief system the same way you go at indoctrinated extremists.

    TL;DR

Things don't happen if you don't talk about them.

To be clear then you're not actually for free speech are you so can we in future abandon the pretense that you are? If for no other reason than for the sake of clarity.

Whatever views you determine to be intolerable in this case should be suppressed violently. That is as authoritarian and anti-free speech as you can get so I don't want to hear any more of your sob stories from your University years about speech codes. They at least are not enforced with violence.

He's totally an authoritarian, and is completely inconsistent with it, he's basically everything he hates about the left, but with right wing ideas behind it. He's almost as bad as your typical SJW.

What these ridiculous courses need is for proper intellectual rigour and criticism to occur, like with what happens with the sciences, and they would quickly have their acts cleaned up and the problems from them nullified, not just silencing them. This shit is precisely why I didn't support Sargon of Akkad's petition on the same thing.

That was badly worded on my part, I meant banning as a way round without resorting to calling for violence or actual violent suppression. That's the part I can't get my head round, there isn't any option left but dismantle and ban the components of their ideology because the only other options left involve violence or violent suppression.

I agree with this. Especially for a state like Arizona, where courses like Native American Studies/History are part of the curriculum (I went to school in New Mexico with a large Navajo population, so we had that course), it is important to make sure that teachers are presenting these events for what they are - parts and facts of history - and make sure that educators are armed with plans that will allow them to approach these classes as such. While teachers are obviously more than welcome to have a point of view on this, they should not start editorializing in the classroom. However, completely eliminating these classes would lead to more harm than good.

The problem with most of these classes is the teachers are full on teaching with a political slant in them, but because education has become such a horrific left wing thought bubble, particularly amongst humanities, they never get pulled up on it and corrected, also students almost never get the opposing view point, and if they do it's usually from the Contrarian student who's partly a troll and isn't necessarily the best at arguing the points of the opposing view.

I can't remember where I got the information from but I remember posting not long ago about the massive imbalance between conservative and liberal professors/lecturers in the humanities in American colleges. I've seen figures like liberals out numbering conservatives as a whole by something like 12 to 1 across all disciplines but that almost tripling when it comes to history.

I would expect liberals to outnumber conservatives in this day and age in part because conservatives are more likely to be deeply religious and that would clash with some aspects of the humanities, but not by that sort of margin. If every professor was a liberal or a conservative that in and of itself wouldn't be a problem as not every person necessarily pushes their agenda onto others. When they do that though then the lack of diversity of opinion becomes a real problem.

Yeah it's a serious problem that seems to only be getting worse from what I can see. I'd expect liberals to outnumber conservatives simply because I think conservatives are more likely to go into the private sector and try and make a thing for themselves, but even still it's ridiculous. I think the last point is funny, the far gone leftists desperately rabbit on about ethnic diversity, yet as soon as some intellectual diversity gets introduced they loose their minds.
