There's not much that has tempted me to buy a new gen console. I thought with Microsoft buying up all those studios, we would get some tasty exclusives to tempt people to one "side" or the other again. The last gen lacked killer exclusives, to the point Xbox One had one good exclusive (Sea of Thieves), PS4 had less than 10.

Seems like Starfield is getting positive, but restrained reviews. Looks like a lot of things that put me off about it (appearance of quantity over quality, surface over depth) are the things that a lot of reviewers are also struggling with

I'm really enjoying it and didn't go in with sky high expectations. If you've played any of the Fallout games (or Elder Scrolls really), think that but in space and you pretty much have Starfield.

There are a lot of planets but a majority of them are just there for you to land on and grab some resources, it's very much a quest driven game.

It's fun enough. Wish there space exploration was more in depth though. I thought we'd be able to fly from planet to planet like No Man's Sky to be honest but you can't. Ships are essentially pointless outside of a few combat engagements. Which is a huge shame.

I've read quite a few reviews for Starfield, and none of them so far show I should regret changing my Series X for a PS5.

One thing that really doesn't appeal, particularly after playing quite a lot of No Man's Sky, is the lack of freedom between planets. Moving from one planet to another is always fast travel and a cut scene as opposed to manually taking off and leaving one planet yourself, flying to another planet, before breaking through the atmosphere and landing like you do on NMS. Whos idea was that? Apparently it completely ruins the feeling of immersion in a large space environment.

    This made me laugh.

I've waited for Starfield for such a long time and all for nothing. Found it too difficult. I got outside met Barrett then struggled fighting off the pirates with a pistol then struggled with the shooting in space too but then couldn't figure out how to land the ship on Kreet so knocked it on the head . I'm just glad I played it on game pass and didn't drop £70/£100 already wasted enough money on games that I either didn't like or wasn't able to play.

That's the only mark against it for me so far. This game would be an easy 10 if you could freely travel between planets like NMS. I'm with you, I really don't get why that's not a thing? For me, just loading up planets kinda ruins the exploration other Bethesda games are known for. Still, the game is still very good imo.

I'm waiting for the Metal Gear Solid Remakes to be released. I could play them over and over again.

Metal Gear Solid on PS1 will be emotional.

The shooting takes some getting used to. I had the same with Fallout 4 but loved it when I got used to it. Slowly getting used to ship controls. Think this game will be a steeper learning curve than Skyrim but will be amazing once used to it.

Considering I played Fallout 4 for 40+ hours before learning about the VATS, I think I am stubborn enough to get a lotof time out of this game

I'm really enjoying Starfield. The biggest complaint those who criticise it seem to have is the fast travel between planets, but personally I don't grasp it.

For one, you can free travel between planets if you really want to... it will just take a phenomenally long time. Hey, space is big right? Mostly though, I just don't know what that kind of free travel adds (or would add) to the game.

Free travel on planet makes sense, and it exists. Free travel in space though? Just time spent in a cold, dark, resourceless void with no benefit.

I enjoyed what I played of Starfield but I am going to put that on hold until it's had a few more patches and the modders have had time to work on it.

Cyberpunk 2077's true launch is tomorrow (or next week with the DLC) so I'll probably play that. Cities Skylines 2, Football Manager and a couple of Yakuza games all out in the next 3 or 4 months.

Skylines will only truly be ready to play a week or month after the release when modders release QoL mods. While they've incorporated some of the popular mods from the first game in Skylines 2 already, surface painters and prop line painters are not in the base game and without them, the cities just won't look realistic.

The MW3 beta has done well with the maps, too. No new ones - Favela, Estate and Skidrow, top tier when COD was in its prime with the original MW2.

It's not bad. I am enjoying the maps but keep getting objective based games, when nobody pays the objective.

They're only actually remaking the third one aren't they? One and two I think are just ports of the original games on PS5, albeit probably with upscaled graphics and higher frame rate.
But yeah i'm excited too, been a few years since i've played through all of them. I assume 4 will get the same treatment afterwards, be nice to play that all the way through without having to download a new disc to continue the game 4 times.

I think from my understanding is that they've touched up a fair bit on Snake Eater. I think Meal Gear Solid will have minimal Frame Rate and not sure on Son's of Liberty.

Few people have been moaning saying Metal Gear Solid 1 should've been made better but I wasn't really bothered about the Graphics being upscaled etc. I am just keen on playing the game again. 1 and 3 are just sublime. Absolutely loved those games.

Snake Eater is also getting a full remake from the ground up though, which will be pretty epic if it has the size of Phantom Pain but in the jungle with the same survival mechanics.
