Honestly, all joking aside, what the hell Liverpool were thinking bringing Balotelli in I'll never know. What you're getting from him is exactly what everyone knew you'd get. When he came on tonight it was anything other than with fear on our part. Lambert was out there playing on the left. He's no Saurez either - but he's better than Balotelli.

I actually thought Balotelli looked a lot more interested tonight when he came on. He was running around and defending from the front a lot more than I've seen him do before. He had a few nice touches (as well as quite a few shite ones). Problem is he's never in the box where we want a centre forward to be and he is too interested in trying to grab the glory with long range efforts.

A nice flick here, a bit of running there, isn't enough mate. He walked off at the end in a strop without even patting his teammates on the back. His attitude is all wrong. He bigs it up if he's winning - as he was at City - but when times are tough he sulks.

I dunno, I would've said the same not long ago, but it seems like there's been a move towards leniency just over the last 2 years or so, and the World Cup was ridiculously lenient. What I like most is how soft penalties are rarely given nowadays; the days of Andy Gray screaming for penalties because a player lightly grazed another seem to be gone, thankfully.

Reckon Rodgers was hoping this was the game where Balotelli lashes in a 30-yarder out of nowhere. It'll happen at some point, but I thought it was a bad substitution. His work-rate is laughable. Anything beyond holding up the ball for a few seconds on the wing or shooting from distance is too much for him, it seems. And wasn't it MB that played Lucas into trouble leading to that free-kick? Complete clown, making a mockery of LFC and the fans are too good to him.

I was actually convinced more cards were given these days, but when I looked into it I found that it's reasonably steady, tbf. Mind you, no matter what era, Costa got away with a couple there.

Pressure's really on Liverpool to beat Bolton then ourselves in the FA Cup now. It's Gerrard's only remaining chance of a domestic trophy.

There's always pressure on the big clubs to deliver trophies, but the fact its Gerrards last season doesn't increase the pressure one single bit mate.

Exactly. This is Liverpool football club, not the Stevie G show.

Disappointing, didn't really create enough decent chances to trouble Courtois.

Chelsea fans in the pub failed to recognise their goal didn't change an awful lot, Liverpool were out unless they scored.

Just like when your club 'legend' goes and plays for your biggest league rivals...

Took a few commentators a while despite the hours they spend before the game preparing all their facts and figures like the much overused "30 semi finals" one. At the end of the day it is about trophies not semis, always made me laugh back when the "man utd have reached 7 consecutive CL quarter-finals" was heard so much, that's when the competition begins in earnest not a worthy accolade

Kinda guessed we wouldn't score two goals, whether through lack of creating the chances or lack of putting them away. The refereeing was a cop out. Ah well, those on the LFC boards and anywhere else saying "we're still in 4 competitions" will have to downgrade that meaningless statement (as you're "in the league" until May regardless and most were saying it BEFORE we'd played in the FA Cup so you can't be out of a competition before it started) to "we're still in 3 competitions" and be ready to make it 2 competitions if we lose to Bolton and so on and so forth

I have to assume Josie is happy. Someone at work suggested Josie wanted to lose the semi-final in order to rest players, I pointed out that they had to play 2 games minimum so he wouldn't save much, and then a week or 2 later they lost in the FA Cup and the same someone is suggesting Josie somehow orchestrated it! I doubt it, Josie doesn't like to lose let alone lose at home and further damage his precious records and reputation

It was a great game though. There seems to be more needle between the clubs each and every time they meet.
    Keep it up chaps.

Absolutely - especially when he left us to join a team in the US and then reversed himself.

Can deserved everything he got. His petulance in kicking the ball away was dealt with in the best manner by Costa. Hilarious to see Can then writhing around in agony. An absolute cheat.

Liverpool toothless as usual this season. Easy in the end for Chelsea.

Quality game and I thoroughly enjoyed it tbh, Costa is a twat however no worse than Suarez, so roll your sleeves up and get on with it you bunch of twats. No idea why Lallana wasn't put on, thought Zouma was excellent as well.

Your bias couldn't be more obvious.

"Oh Can kicked the ball away in frustration! Luckily this was dealt perfectly by Costa stamping on him like he did half a dozen other players that match!"

So what? Because there exists a player somewhere that might be more of a twat, Liverpool can't complain about the twat that was stamping and barging players all game?

Yet we had "twats" like you whining about Suarez yet we're not allowed to?

Best manner? Hilarious seeing players stamped on? You freak of a scumbag...typical Chelsea "fan" not that you've ever been with 100 miles of Stamford Bridge mind you.

 yeah, very easy I must say, Jose aged about 20 years over those two legs.
