you keep saying this , but again you do realise the ****ing russian government is more of a corrupt shithole than Ukraine is ? I don’t know how many times you need telling this , but Russia has been found to be the most corrupt government in Europe

why the hell should Ukrainians wish to join something that is even worse ? Why do you seem to have no issue with Putin sending hundreds of thousands of men to die for his corrupt shithole government ?

If Russians want to fight for their shithole government more power to them? Loads of them didn't though (almost 1 million people have fled Russia IIRC since the start of the war), see the huge numbers of Russian migrants in Georgia, Turkey, Armenia, Serbia and Kazakhstan just to name a few countries Russians have fled to.

Hey, I was told that the sanctions were supposed to crush the Russian economy and end their war efforts, I'm just asking if this is what winning looks like.

out of curiosity, what are the interests rates in Russia driving these massive profits?

banks make money though lending money so if they are posting record profits I assume interest rates are high?

if so who precisely in Russia do we think are paying these rates:)

yeah I imagine a bank could well make a lot of profit on rates like that, provided of course there's no defaults.

What the interest rate is is irrelevant for banks making profit, banks make profit on the spread between the short and long ends of the curve.

The figures are papering over the cracks. We all know it, it’s basic common sense! They are pouring money in to the war and are only really trading with China and India.

Russians are far poorer than they were before the war. There’s a labour crisis looming as they lost unskilled and skilled labour through conscription, and academics leaving the country due to conscription as well. They are f***ed at some point in the very near future

Russia boasts it is beating sanctions, but its longer-term prospects are bleak | CNN Business

one of the three major means for a bank to make money is irrelevant.

Banks borrow money at the short end of the yield curve, they have to pay this back, they only make money if they can then lend this money back out on the long if the rate is a higher %, they make money on the spread. This is how banking works, the short end of the curve can be 1million% they'd make **** all if the long end of the curve was also 1million% (eg there's no spread).

I guess paranoia is a necessary part of his style of dictatorship. When you lead like him you make a lot of enemies and if you aren't constantly suspicious of everything and everyone and aware to any potential threat then there won't be a shortage of people who will literally stab you on the back. He's long since given up the illusion of a democracy now he's burned all bridges with the West so he's just going full on dictator now in public as well as in private. Creating the illusion of a fair election is just too much time and effort so just do your rigging in public now

It's crazy to think that in years gone by, Russian agents (suspected or otherwise) were relentlessly persecuted and ostracised from American public life - now they can be as brazen as they like about it, become representatives and the media will give them a platform.
