It wasn't given to Sam Gallagher actually, the announcer said the wrong name and corrected post the whistle. The pic that went up on the screen was Callum Brittain and he got our MOTM. If I said Gallagher touched the ball more than Szmodics would that surprise you? He did the dirty work we needed rather than the spectacular. As for the game, maybe your expectations are just higher and recent form has you disappointed. You would have probably rightly have come into this game expecting to win against a team near the bottom and with one of the worst defences, especially with you being so easy to defend against that you are nearly top scorers in the league! However, in this game you didn't trouble us much, failing to get a shot on target till the 80th min. Despite that it genuinely was nowhere near the worst game ever but I can understand how perspectives can vary depending on how the team is doing. There's plenty of talent in that Southampton team so far from poor, just stuttering.
That was the archetypal 'two shit teams, 0-0' game and we managed to lose it. I think a lot of us have accepted we're going to drop, and after the last two results you can't say we don't deserve it. Birmingham have Rotherham and Huddersfield away one after the other in a few weeks and they won't lose both. Never been Stockport or Mansfield, so that'll be something different.
