Its been officially confirmed we are negotiating with Wycombe Wanderers Football Club Limited. Doesn't matter where the money comes from. It is being done in your name. Couhig has even called himself a "Franchise Owning Club Murderer" on Twitter. Whether that is him trying to be funny or not, it is not appropriate behaviour from a club owner in these circumstances. It only has a negative impact to the way your club is going to be viewed. I would call on all Wycombe fans to show they support football, and not just their club by protesting against this purchase. Time to show your true colours.
So now it is has been shown that the planning consent granted was personal to RFC for the purposes outlined in the planning application. Does that mean WWFC would have to make an application for a variation to that consent before they could use it? That could seriously delay any sale and the council would get hundreds, if not thousands, of objections.
He is still listed as being on your Board of Directors and your Sporting Director. (Source (the WWFC website). So how does he have nothing to do with your club?
So it seems Wycombe are securing their funds to buy Bearwood against all their other assets, including Adams Park. This is crazy and makes no. sense and I would be very worried if I was a Wycombe fan. You are buying a PL level training facility with something like 13 or 14 top quality pitches, with building to house a full academy including classrooms, canteens, etc. This place costs a fortune to run which has been draining money from us and we have a CAT A academy to utilise it. It is seriously over the top for Wycombe, they don't have the set up to utilise it and it will take years for them to get to a level of operation where they can, and all the time it will be draining money from their club. This training ground is worth more than the current entire club and will make WWFC almost impossible to sell in the future. You need a training ground that meets your current needs with room for sustainable growth (which may not be your current training ground either). But you could certainly build an excellent facility for less than you are paying for Bearwood. In some ways, and whilst it may be seen as the jewel in our crown, it will be good to remove this millstone from around our neck. We needed it whilst we had Premier league aspirations and were doing well in the Championship, but now in League 1 we can't sustain it. We can't afford a CAT A academy and that is primarily what it was built for.
Wycombe & Reading beeeeeef !!! Our chairman / owner knows Wycombe's & reckoned 3/4 months ago after pumping around £6 million into them that they were up for sale so the whole buying Reading's luxury facilities albeit with partners seems a bit of a weird one . Could a future merger between the 2 clubs as has happened at non league level be on the cards & in the current cost of football crisis where millions are being squandered & for very little returns for all other than players & or agents could this be the way forward for many clubs & say in 20 years time see 3 leagues & only 60 league clubs ? What would the new team be called ? Readcombe Rovers ? Wycding Ununited ? Good luck to both , end of the day both communities which foreign owners haven't a clue about .
Couhig cannot do that as he doesn't own Adams Park a trust does (FALL) and he's very pissed off about it,we don't own our training ground we rent it.
First with the news...Wycombe pull out over planning issues (edit: on hold, but I don't see them progressing). Considering they first looked at the trianing ground in November, they didn't do their due diligence very well. Should never have to exclusive talks. No-one had even contacted the council or checked planning, The council contacted them after the news broke.....absolute shambles from Wycombe.
Hmm , shame really , would make a good new home for W.W.F.C & far easier to get too & quicker to get out of than Adams Park is & I'm now running out of sympathy for other fans especially after the Premier League vote last week vetoing the lower league clubs bigger slice of the pie , I remember 10/12 years ago Bournemouth fans walking around London Road with a big Union Jack with The Cherries on it in white asking for donations to keep their club afloat , fast forward a dozen years & they're one of the greedy clubs sh*tting on the lower league clubs , shame on them .
The Club can confirm Mr Dai has committed to a letter of intent with a potential purchaser of Reading Football Club. The parties will now enter a period of exclusive negotiation to agree the final terms. The completion is expected to take up to two months, at which time the purchaser will be announced. The transaction would include the transfer of Mr Dai’s shareholding in The Reading Football Club Limited, as well as the Select Car Leasing Stadium and Bearwood Park training ground. The club will communicate with further updates when appropriate.
