    Its absolutely dead here since BoJo put the return quarantines in place. He made the correct call I think even though its hitting us hard. Theres a few isolated pockets popping up in the Balaers which was always to be expected once we opened the doors to tourists again. We locked down hard and kept the C19 exeptionally low here so we could open up to tourists again. Mallorca spent millions on an overhead test system that pinpoints anyone with a high temperature. Madrid shot us in the foot though by not allowing us to make ALL arrivals including internal flights and spanish nationals go through the same procedure and be checked and subsequently we are now paying the price. 15 flights a day from Barcelona and similar from Madrid all arriving unchecked because Madrid wont allow us to put them through the checks. The Balaers government pleaded right from the start for all arrivals to be checked but got turned down flat. Its madness.

    Apologies if this should be in the Coronvirus thread rather than here

    I’ve had 2 Spanish trips cancelled and was tempted to book Portugal for end of the month. Won’t do it , too much risk with the quarantine on return. Turkey seems to be the safest place at the mo but the flight times are rubbish. Spain is my first choice so I’ll hold out.. booking Greece or Turkey just because they’re safer would be booking for the sake of it. I love both but guess I’m a little concerned that all the Spanish travelers, including the Balearics and Canary Islands, are switching to Greece and Turkey so surely must increase the risk

    Was wanting to visit New York next June but going to give that a miss.

    Not going to book a holiday and fly out to wherever and then find out need to get back home before the quarantine deadline passes.

    Can also consider Albania or Montenegro;

    Currently in Serbia; life is normal as can be here; packed out bars/restaurants still. A lot of people outdoors though enjoying the 31+ degree heat rather than drinking indoors.

    I think I have around 70 days left on my tourist VISA here and will then border hop to Albania.

    I'm enjoying the impact that Corona is having on travel though; cheaper prices on accommodation, cheaper prices on flights, less stag parties/gap year backpackers about. I hope this becomes the new normal.

    Have fun. They are coping very well and keeping the numbers down.

    I thought they were ok over there . Everyone in the world seems to be holidaying in Turkey.. !

    Hopefully they give you like for like but, like most, you chose your accommodation for a reason. I’d hate to be moved as I choose my accommodation carefully and weigh up what’s important for our perfect holiday. I’m sure you’ll have fun still, as the sin will be shining , unlike the gloomy UK

    Personally I have no trouble travelling this year so long as I am tested upon arrival. Unfortunately Japan really messed up by not allowing non-Japanese passport holders back in the country during this pandemic. Even people with visas who live and work here. They have been letting people back in recently, but I think you need to quarantine for 2 weeks. Unfortunately, that isn't an option for me so can't do it.

    I think they are, just that hotel - only I could choose that one :angryfire I say I....I just paid my money and my friend chose it. I dunno where abouts it was, I’ll just pack me bags and go to wherever he booked :laugh: we’re all inclusive so as long as there’s a bar, pool and sun I’m happy! I need the batteries re-charged!
    Would of rather gone Thailand tho like we originally had booked :(

    Went to Sicily in early September and I felt much safer during the whole travelling experience than I have when I've gone to busy restaurants & bars in the UK during the COVID period. Thought British Airways were fantastic.

    Loved Sicily. Palermo doesn't need more than a night or two but it's got some beautiful parts, adding with streets covered in rubbish & dog shit to give a real authenticity. Highlight was visiting Favignana, absolutely stunning place.

    I would love to go away but can’t risk quarantine when I return. Mainland Spain would be my first choice, but that’s a no go at the moment. Kos and Turkey are cheap right now. No idea why as I thought the popularity due to the fact they are about the only warm places you can go without quarantining, would have hiked up the prices. I don’t want to go somewhere for the sake of it, so will keep my fingers crossed that Tenerife goes ahead in February, which we booked beginning of March

    The photos of Palermo look stunning;

    I worked with a group of 17/19 year olds in the UK from Palermo once, and it was the company's idea to take them to Margate for a day on a cold March day for an excursion.

    I have never seen a more unimpressed group of teenagers in my life; they spent 2 hours in the Costa Coffee, until it was time to get the train back.

    Italy, by far one of my favourite countries; lucky enough to spend 5 weeks working there last year in non-tourist cities; and they were still more beautiful than any of the major tourist cities in the UK. Padova for example took me by complete surprise.

    I was glad to visit, it had a very nice feel to it, perfect if you balance it with a visit to Mondello for a bit of the beach too.

    Definitely better than Margate :laugh:

    Italy is definitely a country I want to see more of, I like cities that have a lot to offer but are still a bit under the radar. Genoa is one that intrigues me.

    Off to Gibraltar on Thursday, they've got a few Covid cases but haven't had any Covid deaths yet. I'd almost booked Turkey as their cases were low so felt a bit of relief last week when they got added to the quarantine list.

    I've never been so looking forward to it. Only real concern is it's not supposedly the easiest place to fly in to and sometimes flights get diverted to Spain.. Hoping that doesn't happen :laugh:
