Saltergate, Chesterfield last game of season in 89/90 or 90/91, can't remember which. We had been promoted the week before beating Wrexham 5-1 with a Gary Birtles hat-trick, so the away end was rammed. Thing I remember most about it was 2 of our fans climbing the floodlights and thd coppers waiting at the bottom to arrest them so they would not come down. Also remember the Chesterfield fans spitting at us through the segregation fence, which was nice of them! We lost 2-0 but nobody cared

Oxford at the manor. Proper nawty game too. Was impossible to watch the match properly with all the trouble. Great atmosphere though back then, got my buzz for away days after that.
Villa away FA Cup 3rd rd 1999 was only 10 and we was bottom of division 3 ( L2 ) and they was near the top of the PL think we lost 3-0 but held our own for a while think about 8,000 city fans went we only averaged bout 5,000
The eighties was something else, seemed to be trouble at nearly every game, used to be a lot of trouble then at Swindon and a lot of other clubs.
I remember in 97/98 playing you in the early rounds of the Auto Windscreen shield at Blundell Park and being disappointed that we only beat you 1-0. How times have changed now eh!!
I used to also like Spurs when I was young. First away game was v Chelsea at Stamford Bridge just before Christmas in 1986. Chelsea were bottom of the table at the time, and Spurs won comfortably 2-0. First Reading away game was a week later, away at Brighton. Both teams were mid-table and it ended 1-1. I didn't even really know where the Goldstone Ground was (no google maps in those days). All I had was a small map of Brighton town centre, with a little arrow at the edge saying "Brighton FC" pointing off the page. I actually found the ground easy enough, but coming home I got lost. It was dark, and the streets looked completely different, and I'd not really taken any note of where I'd walked. I had to ring on the doorbell of some random house and ask them how to get to the station.
Bury v AFCB, 1999, drew 2-2. Only memory I have is in that huge bit of space Bury have between the seats and the pitch, picking up the ball as a 9 year old and belting it over Paddy Kenny out towards the edge of the 18 yard box. He was fuming.
It was 2-1 I believe my first and only visit to Home Park 31/01/06, Paul Wooton scored a penalty that evening and would later play for Saints before returning to Plymouth as a coach.
We lost 2-1 to finish 18th, think Mark Stein scored as he always did. Ah, the glory days of Billy Bonds.
Remember my Mum taking me when I was little, on the coach with the Bury fans to watch Bury play Chester at Sealand Road. That was harsh terracing right there, glad we were in the stand. First City away was at Old Trafford. Went with a friend, used her Auntie's ticket so had to stand in the Utd end. Was 82 or 83 and we drew. Being female and the fact we didn't win helped me come out in one piece.
Leeds Utd at Hillsborough in the 1972 FA cup semi final. We got played off the park, apparently, I cared not a jot as I was in paradise..
Wimbledon away at Selhurst Park in 1999. First game ever for us in the Premier League. We lost 3-2 despite Wimbledon having a player sent off earlier on. Don't remember the goals too much as I was a young boy, but Marcus Gayle and Neil Ardley scored against us. Two players who then went on to play for us for quite a while. Not counting the play-off final in the season before, not really an 'away' game as such.
White hart lane 1983. We lost 3-2. I remember it was a cold and misty and the atmosphere was the nuts. Being eleven years old at the time, it was a big deal, going to my first away game with my Dad and at Spurs. The team that broke my heart in 82 when they beat us in the FA cup final. I did go to Wembley for the Final with my Dad(the replay) but do not count that as my first away game as it was a neutral ground.
