Went to see a Pistols' tribute band last night. They were absolutely superb and the bloke playing Rotten was great at throwing insults at the crowd. I pogoed like it was 1977 again. marvelous stuff..
Echo and the Bunnymen Dec 18th – Queens Hall, Edinburgh. Best live band on the planet. I'm hoping they announce more dates as this is the first time in a number of years they're not playing the O2 in Liverpool in December.
Got The Stranglers in February. Be interesting to see them again after 42 years. I can't believe I just typed that but I saw them in 1978 in Birmingham in a 'rock against racism' gig. They may have changed. A little..
I seen them at the O2 in 2015 ,it was never going to be the same after Cornwell flew the coop, but Warne was a decent enough front man to carry the gig.
Cornwell played in Melbourne a few months back but he was asking $140 a pop to see him. I mean, feck that, it was cheaper to see U2 FFS..
Jesus ,I managed to get two tickets for Van Morrison for March next year at the London Palladium for myself and the wife for £104. Hugh's having a laugh there.
He wasn’t counting my dollars while he was laughing. Going to see Liam Gallagher next week, that was a bit pricey as well but it’s at the Margaret Court arena and it’s only small so he’s forgiven..
Let me know what you thought? I am off to one of his Fremantle gigs next week. I knew someone on here had pushed some of Gerry Cinnammon's stuff in the Greatest Song and/or Songquest threads when I saw he was support but I couldn't remember who it was so thanks for tagging Papa in to remind me.
Have you not seen the news? A lot of people were pissed off last night when the power got turned off. Liam’s blaming the organisers and the organisers are saying it weren’t us. Aside from that I thought he was worth the money. His solo stuff is meh but the Oasis back catalogue is golden
I had not seen it when I posted earlier. All I saw was a tweet from Liam moaning about a $250K fine if he went past curfew and just thought he was moaning as he wanted to go on later than he was allowed to
Went to see Bad Manners in Brum last week, and had a really good bounce around for a couple of hours. Ideal Christmas party knees-up.
Went to see a Nirvana tribute band on Saturday. Feck me they were soo good. If the bloke had have been left handed you’d have thought it was Kurt..
If that is the guy I think it is (can't tell off the photo) he sang when we went to see the Perth Philharmonic Orchestra play the Unplugged album here 2 years ago. I think his name is Justin Burford. We thought the same when we went to see that in that it could have been Cobain on the stage - he was fantastic. Went to see Liam Gallagher last night. I really enjoyed it. He was in a bit of a mood though. From the first song he was complaining about the sound system (sounded OK to me to be honest) so he had a few outbursts which added to the night really. I actually like his solo stuff but the 2 encores he did when he smashed out the Oasis big guns were fantastic. Only thing I am gutted about is Gerry Cinnamon didn't support here (he never was supporting, I got it wrong). I would have liked to have see him after catching some of the stuff @Papa Francesco has posted. Our support was a band called Lahey - I thought they were OK so I might try and find some of their stuff. Lead singer is a woman named Alex Lahey from Melbourne.
Liam's issue would be with the monitors, he alternates between in ears and wedges. When I saw him in London in November he was pointing and gesticulating at the monitor engineer at various points throughout the gig.
The Stranglers tomorrow then, with no Hugh or Jet Black. It’s not a sellout otherwise I would be thinking of selling my tickets and going to watch City v Victory in the derby over the road.. what to do.....
Offspring and Sum41 coming to Perth in April. Tempted. Very tempted in fact Green Day/Weezer/Fall Out Boy here in November. I am all over that
Have a friend who works for a student publication and is able to get tickets to gigs quite regularly so he can review them, via him I was the +1 to see The Lighthouse Family on Tuesday at the Royal Philamonic and they were really good. I'd forgotten all about them since the 90s but remembered a few songs and it was nice to see them performing. Got loads of videos for my parents who were big fans of theirs back in the day. Same deal tonight, I'm seeing The Script who I am sort of familiar with. I can't reliably sing any lyrics but it should be good and at a much bigger venue (M&S Arena) so looking forward to that!
Just on the way home from the Babymetal gig. Easily one of the top five gigs I’ve ever been to, it was just ****ing brilliant from start to finish. Everything was spot on, the vocals, the musicianship, the light show and visuals, the atmosphere, the sound mixing. Would happily go see them again, just an excellent, fun night!
