Painkiller is the best priest album imo, absolutely unbelievable. If you've been sleeping on the 90's stuff then here are some other unbelievable albums from the 90's that are worth checking out; Sigur Ros - Agætis byrjun, NIN - The Fragile, The Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity (this is a very aggressive record just as pre-warning), Jimmy Eat World - Clarity, Incubus - Make Yourself, Refused - The Shape Of Punk To Come, Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle Earth, Less Than Jake - Hello Rockview, Symphony X - The Divine Wings of Tragedy (the title track on this thing is amazing), Tool - Aenima, Blind Guardian - Imaginations From The Other Side, Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Pumpkins - Siamese Dream, Blind Guardian - Somewhere Far Beyond, Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power, Nightwish - Oceanborne and then basically every Opeth, In Flames and Dream Theatre album of the 90's are amazing and worth checking out. These are some of my favourite 90's albums and I consider them all timeless classics that never get old. Also the Symphony X title track below, I hope you like prog The 90's was so ****ing good for music.
Cheers. Perhaps this new insight will divert me from picking up any more Barclay James Harvest, Spooky Tooth and Uriah Heep albums on my wanderings around the local second hand outlets. Good to hear the spirit of Pete Hamill, Robert Fripp and Peter Gabriel lived on in the great USA. Quite enjoyed that Symphony X distraction.
We have very different taste as bands like RHCP’s and Depeche Mode aren’t really my thing. Nor is Radiohead or Nirvana who obviously a lot of people love from the 90’s.
Guys and gals, looking at 23:59 on Friday 19th July as the deadline for receipt of your top 10 lists. Already received 5 lists which is a decent start but want as many forum members as possible to get involved with this so PM me your fave songs (see the OP for full details of what this is all about)
Well yeah I'm a metalhead I don't get Radiohead either tbh, they're just as shit and boring as Oasis. Nirvana made quality music tbf but people go on about them a bit too much.
I guessed ha. I have a very broad taste across many genres but that’s one genre I’ve never got on with. Although I do have a thing for Slipknot though Oasis are neither shit or boring, their first 2 albums were quality. We Defo will never agree on them. I’m pretty sure that Nirvana album would get voted the best of album of the 90’s in most polls.
You’ll be able to tell which songs I picked because they’ll be obscure ‘black’ songs that no other twat has heard of, let alone picked
Oasis, Nirvana and Radiohead have all got one thing in common; they’ve all released two brilliant albums early in their career and then it all went pants..
Slipknot are great. They are very shit and very boring, Liams voice is whiney crap and the rest of the shit is dumbed down to ****, precisely why they got huge, dummys can enjoy it (I'm not saying you're a dummy, but lots of their fanbase is). Yeah I agree, Nevermind wouldn't even make my top 50's of the 90's albums I don't think, In Utero is better but people would vote Nevermind because of Smells Like Teen Spirit. I've never read so much nonsense in my life.
They are. I think Liam’s voice on DM and WTSMG, also the Masterplan is great, but towards the end of Oasis and in his solo career he’s not sounded great. And Oasis do have a lot of sheep that follow them because they think it’s cool etc but those type would pick Wonderwall as their favourite song. Any true fan would tell you DM is their best album and Wonderwall isn’t even in the top 20 of their songs.
I think people just like what they like and should never be mocked for what they choose if it’s genuinely what they like and not just because they think it’s trendy.
Agreed entirely. I think the current number one pick on my list will show that. I’ve actually surprised myself
Well DM would be better than WTSMG if only because the production and mastering isn't so ****ing awful like it is on WTSMG The loudness war is strong with WTSMG.
It’s only the song Morning Glory itself that has that loudness you mean and it makes that song what is. We will never agree on Oasis it seems ha!
