It’s easily his best album (never used to think that though), and so different to everything else he’s done. Redman never plays any of these songs live apparently because his head was all over the place whilst he was recording it. Damn shame

Rumours he was using acid and shrooms during recording, not at all surprising based on the finished product. Fckin masterpiece imo

Albums like dare, ob4cl and liquid swords I loved back when they were released, but haven’t really listened to them for years until recently. I definately appreciate them more now I’m older and personally think they are the standout albums in what was hip hops greatest era, especially dare and liquid swords.

I've always had muddy waters up there as a favourite from redman. It's the beats on it that make it stand out. The beat to pick it up is a perfect summertime cruising tune

That and Whut were my favourites back in the day. My music taste has definately changed slightly, with hip hop in particular in the last couple of years. I hadn’t listened to much hip hop for about 15 years because a lot of the 00s stuff was shit imo. Fckin love this album now. A lot of those hip hop albums around the early to mid 90s I appreciate very differently. Where I used to prefer illmatic, ready to die and the low end theory back then, I much prefer the darker more atmospheric records like dare and liquid swords. And the rhymes and flow on both are incredible, almost unmatched imo
Still really liked these albums back then, just not as much as I love them now

The first album is good...I always thought Muddy Waters after Dare was boring.

I think any album following dare would seem boring; it’s fcked up funk and craziness from start to finish. That’s kind of how I feel now

I slept on this album for a long time because there were so many other great hip hop records released in a short period of time that I just didn’t give it much of a listen. I think it’s overlooked and that’s probably a big reason. 93/94 was a ridiculously good couple of years in hip hop

It's more of a standard hip hop albumthan Dare is. Dare defo has a warped and different feel to it. There both f**king class albums from one of my favourite MC's at the end of the dYd

There is pretty much me too mate. So many albums I bought and listened once due to it being different from illmatic/36 chambers etc. Listening back later and they sound so good. Have you heard any cunnin lynfuists at all? Fairly under the radar southern group

Still hasn’t dropped his debut album, but another single by CASIsDead. Was actually released a month ago but it was only released on PornHub, been waiting for someone to reupload it to YouTube.

    F*cking hell I love him.

There's a few other UK artists dropping stuff worth a mention too, a lot of it on high focus. Dirty dikes got a new one coming soon

F*ck knows. I would guess he’s just being a bit of a perfectionist. He did release a single on Christmas Day last year so maybe the same again this year with the album. :pray

As for the High Focus stuff, I agree! They’re putting out some incredible stuff as a label. The new Ocean Wisdom album is probablyy favourite album this year - quality record.

Yeah I don't mind if it's a good project. Which im certain it will be. That drive you home track is quality. You heard any new jam Baxter? New one here, I think it's good.

Beat is bananas as they say

Didn't think this merited its own thread, but this is so interesting. Never been a fan of Black Eyed Peas, myself, but will definitely check out their old stuff after this:

They’re a bit of a weird band, the change in their early stuff to the Will.i.am/Fergie ego boosting machine is startling. You know it’s bad when you can’t name the other two who were there the entire time.

There first 4 albums up to and including Monkey Business are worth a spin though

But anyway, wanna look back on 2019 quickly. Arguably the best year for U.K. Hip-Hop ever.

    Amazing output from

    Ocean Wisdom

    Dave

    Slowthai (genius video btw)

    Kano

    Loyle Carner

    OFB
RV FT BANDOKAY, DOUBLE LZ & SJ - CREP SHOP (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

    AJ Tracey
    AJ Tracey - Ladbroke Grove

    Octavian
Octavian - Feel It (Official Video) ft. Theophilus London

    J Hus
J Hus - No Denying (Official Audio)

    Pro Green(!!)
Professor Green - Fire In The Booth part 2

    Big f*cking Heath
BiG Heath - Fire In The Booth

I’ve ran out of effort for links but Stormzy, Skepta, JME, Yizzy, Krept & Konan, SL, Bugzy Malone, Kwengface, Young T & Bugsy, Lil’ Sims, D Double E, Mist, Fredo, Jaykay, Aitch, Songer, Mo Stack etc etc. All the drill artists getting millions of views too.

I don’t think there’s any debate for me that the U.K. currently has the strongest rap scene in the world.

I know a few of the older heads like @Jonny Ninja turn their nose up and the modern U.K. stuff but honestly you’re missing out dude. If nothing else then check out the Slowthai album, I think it’ll be right up your street.

    What a f*cking year

    Edit:
Forgot Rapman, who probably had one of the biggest years of anyone. Shiros Story changed the game.

Also can’t do a 2019 catch up without mentioning Cadet. Would have had a massive 2019 & 2020 if he hadn’t passed.

    Underrated Legend.

I just can’t get in to it dude. More than anything it’s the production/sound/vibe that I just can’t get in to. We certainly have a lot of skilled mcs over here now, as opposed to back in the day. Some really fckin good mcs. I will ready admit that the UK scene is better than current US hip hop

it’s also an age thing mate. Im at the point where I can’t accept that new stuff is better than what I listened to. It happens to a lot of us. I’m fully aware that I fall in to that category

I will give some of that a listen though dude
