teams that win the league do what York did today. They has absolutely no right to win that game, but after their equaliser their was only going to be one team that was going to win. All York fans will agree they were abysmal in that 2nd half, but champion teams do what they did....
Had an interesting day,a York fan throw up all done the back of trousers in first half. Not sure I have seen York score 2 injury time goals in my life. Been to The Shay 16 times and the only time I have seen them win was the year we got promoted, hope this is omen. Just happy we shouldn’t be fighting relegation this season. Halifax is a fab drinking town and the pub opposite Wetherspoons was bouncing, absolute top away day.
There’s definitely a slight bittersweet twinge to seeing all the ex-Worthing lads doing so well*. Don’t think it’s too ridiculous to say we’d have been able to get (most) of them at Woodside Road if Hinsh had taken us up. However it’s mainly just nice to see them doing so well, especially as York are such a likeable club. Made up for Pearce & Felix but especially for Hinsh. He was one of my favourite Brighton players growing up and I think he’s destined for big things as a manger. Fingers crossed he gets you back in the league before then. *It’ll be even worse than the inevitable Jasper Pattenden loan in January and Harry Howell next summer
Nice to see the tribute to Trevor Bashford captured at the end. Long standing fan and early Trust member, ex Chair and generally nice person. Great banter with Tonks in the second half, snippet included by Pip. Bim developing nasty, reckon he could easily hit double figures for us this season.
Maybe me i don,t know, But your lads hearts did not seem to be in it. And Mr Widdrington was watching a differant game.
Something wasn't right from minute one yesterday. Don't think it was lack of effort, maybe an issue with preparation (although we stayed overnight so shouldn't have been an issue)
Just a poor performance I think, nothing sinister, Barrett clearly a player with talent, sort that is out of breath over 40 yards but equally has the ability to smash one in top bins from the same distance, you just had nowt upfront really, tough gig replacing Tolaj but our defence has never had such a simple 90 minutes.
He played two or three breathtaking crossfield passes in the game, which we did nothing with. The problem is him and Henry in the double 10 aren't going to make runs in behind, so other than the 9 (Ghandour isn't good enough, and Barham's being managed fitness wise), if there's no midfield / wing back runners we're screwed. Giving away a stupid goal after 5 minutes didn't help, gave you confidence and control in the game, which you never looked like surrendering.
