Will Sky be doing more features like this next season as they do for the Premier league ? Mic’d up refs and then explaining decisions afterwards. Personally thought he was lucky not to get sent off but I am biased !
The only good thing out of that read in that League 1 & 2 clubs get a bigger slice of the pie compared to the current 80% that the Championship gets . There was no mention on any terrestrial tv highlights which are currently being broadcast on ITV4 or are football fans being forced into Sky's monopolisation of EFL football .
I presume ITV still have the highlights. Guess it might affect crowds but maybe the extra money counters that?
Absolutely insane than half the games will be televised. Another nail in the coffin. The PL is too far gone but now Sky are trying to destroy the Championship. I will be renewing my ST's next year because I have a good amount of points and tickets would be impossible for most away games. I'll see how the fixtures work out. We went about 5 months this season without a Saturday 3pm KO (home). If 50% of games are going to be shown means potentially 23/2 = 11.5. Knock 4/5 off for midweek games and you're left with 6/7. F*ck that.
The lack of 3pm kick offs is what will piss everybody off. I hate early or late kick offs on a weekend with a passion.
I read some blurb from Sky in the paper saying that because they have some super-duper new gizmo that they can show a lot of these games simultaneously across multiple streams, and that therefore there will not be so much disruption to kickoff times. Plus they’re going to give more notice of changes and they really care about fans. Or something. Who knows, we’ll find out next season I guess. The idiots in charge of football in this country. Selling it down the river.
Like f*ck do they give a toss about the match going fan I don’t really attend away days much so doesn’t affect me when KO times are changed, but I do feel for those it does.
Cant keep everyone happy. The problem with the old system where had no televised games, is that football was an exclusivity club. If you couldnt afford to get to games, didnt have the means to get to games, or there is no capacity for tickets to be sold (as is the case at my club), you didnt get to watch football, you had the radio. I think we need to get past that and recognise genuine supporters dont necessarily need to be all match attending fans. To avoid disrupting match going fans the obvious solution is to air Saturday 3pm games, but there is still too much stubborn resistance preventing it. There is also the problem sky want exclusivity so it prevents club ran streaming services as well. I think could run streaming services for non sky games, and have an address check to confirm the fan lives within the vicinity of the club. The end game will be that every game is covered, its just a question of how long we take to get there, the stumbling block is clearly the blackout rule.
Ben cisse signed a new 2 year professional deal here. Young keeper in the England set up. Both our keepers this year are academy lads, Palmer and Griffiths. In good hands in goal without spending a penny for years to come hopefully.
Probably not by much, they can still be unequal, just not to the take the piss levels we have now, and the average will be now close to 50% of games.
There is a lot of irony around the fact that they put in that blackout rule to protect the 3pm kick off. But now we barely have any 3pm kick offs because of its very own rule.
Club secretary gone, went over a month ago and papers had the story the other week but only just had a statement from the club (if you call 9 words a statement). The DOF is also on his way out (again paper news, no statement yet), think the writing has been on the wall since Jan and the fact that Steve Waggot rather than the DOF Gregg Broughton appointed Eustace as Head Coach. Feel for Gregg, did manage to tie players down contract wise and gain good fees where we've been poor in the past and had to deal with the 20% cut in budget in the summer out of the blue and when we couldn't do business for 6 wks as a result. JDT had offered to quit too that summer due to the cuts and "change of project". Then that Jan window and signing fiasco with McGuire. Sounds like we are looking to keep the DOF structure but who knows what they'll have to work with budget wise as the owners have to guarentee £1 for £1 any money sent over from India to support the club. Bumpy season just ended, could be a bumpy summer.
Renewed mine. I stand in the cheap section (the wing of the stand to the right as you look out from the away end (opposite side to where the boxes are). £1 ish a game increase for me. I have 2 kids so end up selling the tickets half the time. Under 25s is a new one. Good idea; we are bringing through more young fans to the games and it's helping the atmosphere. I think the Family Stand that started about 10 years ago is now also helping, as those kids are now young adults looking to go.
Those Blue prices are great value for a London club. Although knowing Loftus Road there's probably a big pillar in the way or the bottom of the top tier stopping you from seeing the goal nearest to you . Yeah I'd have much preferred the rules to be relaxed and 3pm games be allowed to be broadcast than this dreadful compromise where loads of games are moved to 12.30 and onto Sundays. It completely circumvents the point of the 3pm rule and if commercial pressures have gotten so great that the 3pm rule is unsustainable I'd have rather dropped it than this even worse situation.
Corry Evans and Bradley Dack have been released today after we confirmed our retained list. Disappointed to lose Evans but his injuries and his age have just worked against him unfortunately. Regarding Dack I’m sure he’ll be pleased he can spend more time in TOWIE or whatever er he wants to do with his Mrs now. Mason Burstow has gone back to Chelsea after his loan (thank f*ck) and Callum Styles has returned to Barnsley, but we still retain an option to sign him permanently. This is going to be a huge summer for us I feel. We are beyond desperate for some quality additions.
No matter where you go, there's an element of a restricted view. Part of the charm of LR ... something like that anyway! The Blue section in fairness, has a good view. The same spot but down the far end near the loft is 'Silver', so £520/£585.
