That's actually very shrewd, he's a good passer and crosser, diligent defensively but too reluctant to take people on to be a threat as a winger. But Enrique, Johnson/Kelly are surely ahead of him there, just get rid!

Defensively... Would not be too confident with Johnson & Downing as our full backs. Would certainly become an obvious target for many teams.

We should be looking to get rid of Drowning, try and cash in.... age isn't on his side neither, he'll be nothing morethan bench warmer in are team, with the odd cup game.

Even a loan out would do FFS.

Just the thought of him being a left back gives me shivers.... he should be left back in the changing room.

I wouldn't be fussed with either way with Downing whether he is sold or kept, he is good enough for a squad player and we aren't going to recoup much of his fee anyway imo but if a decent offer arises then we should take it.

There is more pressing issues of getting rid of the likes of Spearing and Adam ... i know Spearing looks likely to go to Bolton but i hear no rumours on Adam, can't even give that shit f*cker away.

Yeah but Downing won't be on squad player wages with a 20m transfer fee, any player on big wages who isn't a first steamer needs binned. Stoke are supposed to be interested in Adam.

I don't know what his wages are to be honest so couldn't comment.

Stoke? I would love Tony forever if that's the case.

Surely that puts and end to the nonsense £9.5 that's being banded around?

Most new it was nonsense, but it gives great comfort to some Arsenal fans... thinking we paid 9.5m

Surely nobody has paid even close to that for a loan ever?

Man United allegedly paid £10m to loan Tevez for a season. So £20m for the 2 seasons he was there I believe?

I don't know if that was just a loan fee or included wages.

Nope, £10m per season it was...

Hard to find a source for a few years back, but Uniteds own club forum suggests £10m per season.

That is correct and another 20m to buy him then at the end of season 2. I believe Sh*ty ended up paying more like 30m if the papers are to be believed.
