He could be a hell of a player. He's the quickest we've had to get to 50 goals and when you look at the quality of strikers we've had over the years that takes some doing. He's like a Fowler or Owen though from later on in their careers in terms of constant injuries.
You can't compare Phil Jones to Daniel Sturridge. You can only compare Phil Jones to Duncan Edwards. To an extent but you'd always have Torres available more often than not. This is just ridiculous now with Sturridge.
TBF hes always been inury prone hence why bigger clubs chelsea and man city got rid and ended up dropping down to liverpool
Maybe this is me being a bit cynical, but I reckon if you ripped up his current contract & replaced it with a 'pay as you play' variant, his injury problems would probably improve. Nevertheless it isn't even news worthy anymore - which is a massive shame. When he's fit, he's one of the best strikers in the league.
Under contract till 2019. A huge risk selling him once we get him fit, a huge risk keeping him. Just hope this isn't another long term injury. We appear to be trying numerous avenues to get him back to fitness and it just is not working in the slightest. Must be a mentality thing mixed up in there, can't all be bad luck.
Tbf he is an England player too as alot of other fans are discussing this topic its a shame to move it considering that the other topics are far less interesting. Poor form mod.
I wonder if his injury problems will clear up in time for Euro 2016 in France next summer. Wouldn't surprise me if he gets himself fit for next summer and then comes back injured for us next season. He's a top class player but isn't worth the hassle of getting him fit for a few games when he's feeling OK...
"Sturridge needs to learn what is serious pain & what is only pain" So Klopp believes it's psychological too, it was obvious after the story of Gerrard begging him to play.
He's got a point though, he'd not have got through at Chelsea. Yeah, Klopp seems to realise that. He probably requires a sports psychologist, if he's not already doing that.
I don't think it's a long term one, from what I read. But I'm losing patience when it comes to Sturridge. It's everytime he comes back from one, trains a bit, gets a few minutes on his return then he's out again. I think I've come to accept Sturridge won't ever be consistent for us, and that I wouldn't blame Liverpool for getting rid, to be honest, I'd actually wouldn't mind if he did leave because we could get some money for him, and it frees up his wages.
Thing is in those 15 games he would probably get 10-15 goals and 5-10 assists, I would be happy with that, worth keeping atm imo. Klopps comments make me think he is possibly declaring himself unfit to play as opposed to the medical staff declaring him unfit. If he is declaring himself unfit to play then Klopp is justified in his comments and studge needs to man up.
