Why was the embargo lifted if all debts were not paid?

It's only football debts and HMRC.

Every club in the league would be under embargo if it applied to all debts.

Either way, looks like Southend fans breaking out the champagne was a bit premature. Seems Martin just can’t let go.

Thanks for confirming. I don’t think everyone should be labelled as not paying their due invoices. We still pay all our bills on time despite the huge cut in budget/investment we’re not going around signing players for fees and extending contracts either.

Yes apologies, wasn't trying to suggest everyone is matching Ron Martin here, more explaining why it's just HMRC and football creditors.

Annoying that Ron the rat is still causing issues, until football authorities get a grip nothing can be done with vermin like him and it’s always the fans that suffer.

This guy has to be one of the worst owners I can remember. Not just saying it, because it is my club. He's like an STD. He is so inbedded you cannot get rid of him.

So far without even owning the club, the consortium have put in £3m in running the club and striking deals with the creditors. Because of how long it has dragged on, Stewarts Law LLP have got bored with waiting and hence their WUP, which we believe is being heard on 17th April.

Meanwhile Justin Rees' has been revealed as saying Ron seemed a nice guy to do business with, or something along those lines. Bet he's not thinking that any more. Quite rightly, the consortium are publicly not prepared to pay another debt not of their making, for a business they don't even own, but why they have made agreements to pay off the debts still remaining as soon as they do.

Ron shouldn't be known as The Rat, more so The Spider as his web of lies and deceit just seems to go on and on.

They’ve pumped 3 million in and don’t even own it? That could end in tears.

As '92 said will be full of indemnities.

Ron is not paying anything out now (despite allegedly still wanting gate money income as I heard today!) and since contracts have been signed and ready to be exchanged, subject to the Council DD, which would put the financiers Ron is using to remove the charges against Roots Hall, apply them to Fossetts Park, formerly known as Fossetts Farm, then the consortium would take legal ownership of SUFC and pay off all debts have already been agreed between them and the creditors as soon as they were to take charge.

If the court case does go ahead, despite official approached from the Shrimperstrust, as fellow creditors to ask Stewart LLP to reconsider, it is likely to be adjourned, but seen as a cynical way to work their way up the queue for reimbursement over fellow creditors.

That whilst previously having defended the club arguing that as a community asset and feature of the community for 118 years, it should not be the fans and people of the City of Southend to suffer losing an asset such as this due to one man's mismanagement. (I could think of other words).

So now to want to shut the club down, hasn't gone down very well and their email inboxes have been subject to a vastly increased surge of traffic today, filling their inboxes hopefully........

They’re well within their right to shut the business down if their not being paid, imagine seeing a business spending money signing players, extended contracts and giving an impression that all is fine etc but you’re not getting paid it must be so frustrating. Like many creditors in the end they’ve probably had enough of it, who can blame them. Hopefully it works out but don’t think for one minute it will just get thrown out, they’re a big legal firm and know the best tricks to get this paid asap. Your fans emailing them is embarrassing, all fine with spending money on the squad and now emailing a creditor for them to daring to ask that their bill is paid, very cringe IMO.

It is embarrassing seeing people contacting them like that and complaining about not getting a response. Not sure what they expect

Southend United's winding up petition set to be adjourned - full statement

So, in your view, it's an embarrassment for the fans to write to a law firm who previously agreed to await the completion of the sale to receive payment reneged on by the out going owner. Fair play and acknowledge your view on this.

However, the action has played a part by fans, in Stewarts Law agreeing to adjourn their action, when along with the emails they have received, they have had discussions with Ron presenting evidence that the sale would be complete by mid May, so they have agreed to adjourn the action until 15th May. Subject to court agreement. Oh btw neither would I, believe anything Ron says, but this has allegedly been supported by Justin the Chair of the Consortium and Chairman of CUSU once the sale has been agreed. He I would believe.

Full article above, but for me an effective action and not embarrassing at all. And it's had a positive effect.

“Following discussions with Ron Martin we have today agreed to an adjournment of the hearing on April 17 for 4 weeks, until May 15 2024 - subject to the court’s approval - by which time we are advised the sale will have completed.”

Thats not just players wages. We have a substantial backroom staff as well that are accounted for in that. Still f***ing loads though obvs.

Getting out of non league? absolutely a fairytale.
