There was only really a handful of things I liked about the final season. Brienne being knighted, Podrick singing Jenny of Oldstones before the battle of Winterfell and Ramin Djawadi's score.

The rest is a rushed mess and the bad writing decisions that started several seasons earlier came home to roost.

I liked Theons arc too going out a hero. Bran calling him a good man at the end gets me every time.

It was corny but him getting crippled kinda set in motion the whole story tbf.

once they ran out of ultra detailed but rambling books to work form the tv show got 1000 times worse as it went low detail, high cgi and really the main highlights were cerci blowing everyone up. the battle at winterfell (first one not the night one) and a few odds and ends.

They absolutely messed up the night kings finale totally, they seriously rushed the decent to madness and i thing the ending was the biggest piles of... well whatever since aragon sang at the end of LotR and they all sailed off. theres an entire movie there never done and cannot be done now lol.

That’s literally it: he met with his British publisher to talk about The Winds of Winter. He doesn’t say anything about how close it is to being done, just that he talked about it. That conversation could have involved him handing over a manuscript, or it could have involved his publisher sitting across from Martin and weeping out of fear that the book will never be finished. We do not know.

The last time Martin gave an update on The Winds of Winter was during an interview with the Portuguese magazine Bang. “The main thing I’m actually writing, of course, is the same thing,” he said, referring to The Winds of Winter. “I wish I could write as fast as [fellow interview subject and author Bernard Cornwell] but I’m 12 years late on this damn novel and I’m struggling with it.”

GRRM meets with his British publisher to discuss release date of Winds of Winter.
