Only Mansfield Town have a better "goals against" record - and they play with a Back Four. They've also score 7 goals (Canavan 4), whilst Stockport's back 3 have managed 2 and Mansfield's CBs have 4 between them. James Chester is L1/Championship standard now he's fit.
GM likes to play a 4-3-3 and Faal is hopeless out wide with Walsall playing 2 up top and nearer home he probably will get more game time with them than us
Signed Maxime Biamou on a short term contract as a back up striker. Hasn’t played in a year and a half @SkyBlueMatt any ideas what he’s like ? Seems to have had a strange career being 33 and only playing 160 games
He has a bit of a cult status amongst (some) Cov fans because he scored some absolutely cracking goals & some important ones. I hope he does well as he loves Cov but he was never prolific. He always seemed to have a good personality, not sure why he's struggled for games after leaving us.
Maxime Biamou may be an older player, but is still probably fitter and less injury prone than too many of our players which is why we are so far down the table. I welcome him to Donny. It will be interesting to see if he gets any game time on Saturday. Walsall will be a massive match for us to decide how good we really are, with Bradford and Crewe to follow. Three currently top performing teams. To say I feel nervous is a massive understatement.
To be fair to Faal, the Saddlers are more likely to be promoted than Donny, and I can't blame any player or manager for going with the better team. It will look good on his CV if Walsall can go up.
Don’t think anyone would’ve minded had he gone about it the right way. But as seems to happen with so many West Brom youngsters he went about it all wrong
A decade ago John Ryan left Doncaster Rovers because he could see the board wanted to create a business model rather than a successful football club. John took most of the soul and passion out of the club with him when he left. What little passion that remained with the board died along with Dick Watson, and his family did not want to continue his support. We have suffered 3 years of austerity at the hands of sole owner Terry Bramall which has brought us to the edge of falling out of the EFL completely. Darren Ferguson, Grant McCann and Darren Moore all walked away from the club as they could see the budget was insufficient. Even Richie Wellens was sacked because he couldn’t build a successful squad with an inadequate budget, and yet the next year (with a suitable budget) he got Leyton Orient promoted. In all good conscience I don’t blame any manager or player (Faal) for leaving Doncaster because, even as a follower, I can see something has been rotten at the club for a long time. Having hit rock bottom things seem to have turned around with our improved form, but whether that will last or not has yet to be seen as we still sit 20th in league two and have made our home in this league.
